As far as Rose SS's go, you know I'm a big fan of GFT Rose, new formulation as I have not been fortunate enough to try the old, tallow based formulation but can't imagine it was that much better. In addition, I like Czech & Speake No. 88 which has more of a complex Rose note. I've only heard rumors about QED's legendary Wild Rose but have not been fortunate enough to try that either, people tend to hoard that stuff. Mama Bear's is a bit strong for me but some may find it just right.

We just received shipment of a tub of Truefitt and Hill Rose shave cream. This is the only rose scented soap we have. It smells a bit over powering in the tub but once lathered up it has a more relaxed scent. While the lather is great and the scent acceptable I think CarrieM will be using it a bit more than I will.
Definitely +1 on GFT Rose. I can't give it enough credit. It's my favourite floral soap by far. I use it in my rotation along with other soaps and creams.
GFT Rose soap gives me a very comfortable and close shave and it works VERY well with the Coral Skin Food, also by GFT.
I've also talked with a fellow member who is a rose fan and he mentioned that Floris No. 89 has a rose scent to it. I've not tried it but might be worth a go. I also believe Collen is working on a Rose soap to add to her collection, it might be in the Beta phase right now but pretty sure it is in the works.

I couldn't spare the funds for this round of the rose otto soap, but I do like mama bear's attar of roses soap. Besides GFT rose cream, it's the only rose scent I've tried. I do like it better than the GFT rose cream though. Seems more rosey if that makes sense.. more pure. The GFT, while nice, seems to have some other stuff mixed in or something?
I've got
1. C&S 88 soap
2. QED Wild Rose
3. GFT Rose Soap
Like them in that order. The C&S is a GREAT tallow soap. Scent is very powdery and fru fru. The QED is a rare Fragrance (not Essential) oil offering from QED - smells great but the fact that it's not EO bugs me (all in my head though). Smells really strong and nice. GFT is a nice soap but just doesn't do anything great - performance is good but not AOS/TABAC/C&S level of performance. Scent is anice rosey mild scent, but doesn't knock me off my feet.
I can't wait to try the SRD Rose EO soap, which I hope is what my QED would be if it was EO and not FO.
lou, if ever your QED troubles you too much, know that I stand ready to relieve you of it's problems! :p
I'm with you on the C&S No. 88, I picked up the travel size 3 pack along with their Oxford & Cambridge scent (wonderful if you like lavender). I love Mama Bear's soaps but her Rose did not agree with my skin, only one of her soaps to not.

Alas, I figured as much!
In all seriousness, is there anything out there that compares to the scent of Wild Rose? I've never tried it but have heard it's quite good. Almost impossible to find anyone who wants to move theirs as the group buy was awhile ago from what it seems.

I got mine randomly. I emailed Charles about various products, and I think I asked if he was going to do a Wild Rose group buy again, and he mentioned he had a couple in innventory so I bought it. That was probably 2007. But if I was you I'd just email him and ask if he has any.
I'd be happy to cut a little chunk off and mail it to you just so you can smell it. I bet the SRD special will be even better.
That would be incredible! I'm setting my man Zib up with a sampler of a chunk of C&S 88 and some Taylor's Rose Cream and some AOS Rose cream for him to try but he and I talked and think that the SRD is going to be a different scent than these three, you agree?
Joe
I enjoy Geo.F.Trumper's rose soap. A bit powdery and sweet when you put your nose to the puck , but when you lather it up the smell is real nice.
Agreed, just picked this soap up and debated doing so but have read quite a few good things about it...I wasn't disappointed. I did not have the honor of trying the old tallow formulation but imagine it couldn't have been much better than the current.
I know some boutique shops such as SCS and such make a rose but haven't given them a run yet.

Replying to myself here, but as promised, here's a very brief summary on what I discovered from my AoS Rose shave this morning.
It's a nice smelling cream. A bit feminine, yes, but who's going to know? :D
It looks and lathers very much like T&H Rose cream. Not that thick and surprisingly not as moisturising as I expected. It was no competition with the likes of Trumpers Rose soap and cream alike, Tabac or AdP cream.
It was good when followed with the Gentlemen's Refinery Standard AS Balm. The rose and Xanthan Gum scent in that combined really well afterwards.
Overall, I wouldn't buy this cream for myself. It could have a thicker lather and better efficacy from a cream this expensive. Also, it could have a better slickness to it as well. Maybe I'll have different results when using it with a pre-shave, e.g. Trumpers Coral Skin Food.
That's my tuppence.
That's odd, I seem to get a very good shave out of AOS creams, granted, CF is better as I'm sure a few other high ends are that I've yet to try but I've gotten a fairly decent shave out of AOS. I do find their SS much better than their creams. I do agree with you that the same shave can be had by Taylor's for much less money, on the Rose side. I've not tried Trumpers SC in Rose, just their SS, which as I stated before, is really good. I'll be interested to see how Collen's Rose turns out from TGQ and how her selection of the scent varies from others. Another top notch performer that is now extinct is the (in)famous Coates Rose Cream. I've not tried it either but understand from a few members here that it is very nice.
Enjoy

Oh, don't get me wrong. Their creams have been very good with me as well, it's just that the Rose, which is really aimed for women seemed not as good as the rest.
 WHOA!! Hang on a second!!
I haven't vouched for Taylors here at all, so just to set the record straight I do not rate their creams or soaps. I find them dull and hard to work with. I think you may have misunderstood the term "T&H".
I've not tried this one but I see it a lot on these forums. One other I've heard of and not tried is Cyril R Salter's Wild Rose. Might be worth a try, but I've not seen or heard of any samples of it around here.
It's funny, many folks have had issues with Taylor's but I guess I've been fortunate in that the two I have, St. James and Rose are both quite good in all aspects of the shave. I've not tried their soaps so have no thoughts around that. Like you, I've not tried Salter's either although I do understand it's a bit "woodsy" for what it's worth? There are also a few boutique shops that make a rose soap/cream that I've not tired either simply due to the fact that with Rose, I find it's either HIT or miss, not really an in between.
