using cream that's supplied in a bowl?

How do you guys use cream that comes in a bowl? I have been travelling these past few months and picked up some Indian made shaving creams, most of them are in a tube, but got one rather pricey product that came in a bowl. The cream is held in a bowl that sits inside another, the latter of which I assume is used to lather up the cream. Do you remove a small dollop from the bowl containing the cream, or do you just whisk your shaving brush over the top of the cream and work up the lather in the empty bowl provided?

I prefer the latter, but just use a little in relation to the water in the brush. I put the bowl into the sink with hot water to heat it up. I soak the brush for a little, take the bowl out, drain the water, knock out excess water in the brush, gently touch the wetted brush to the cream and give about a 1/2 turn, check to see that I got a decent amount (this takes a little practice to get the relationship between wet brush and cream correct. Finally build the cream in the bowl.

The second bowl you got may not really be for building cream. Most creams come in twin bowls and you leave the bowls alone. Most guys buy a lathering bowl, usually one that transfers heat. Mine is ceramic. Rinse it all out when done shaving AFTER you have rinsed your face and know that you have gotten a great shave.
