What are the best places in the US to grab some free samples to try new brands/fragrances?
Also, I've only done creams by the tube, but I have a tub on the way. Do you stick your brush in and grab some, or do you scoop a small bit out with your finger or the end of your razor or what?

You can scoop with your finger tip, a teaspoon or you can just quickly dab your brush into the pot to get a small amount of cream on tip of the brush, which is my preferred method.
I scoop my TOBS cream out of the tub with a plastic knife that I have sanded down and keep in my shave den. I do not dip the brush into the cream for fear of contamination...but I guess that's just me.
Gentlemen,
A quick swirl of the brush, with much of the water squeezed out, in the tub does the job. After that, as I built lather on my Hollywood face, occasionally I dip the edge of the brush in hot water to add more moisture. It works for me.
Sometimes, though, I swirl the brush in the tub and then built lather in the scuttle. It all depends on how the mood strikes.
