    Default Taylor's Sandlewood Soap

    Hello, Cutalot:

I am surprised with your difficulty in making lather with Taylor's. If I may suggest, please watch the various videos on making lather. Mantics has a good one, and there are others. Perhaps your lather making technique needs to be reviewed.

    Regards,

    Obie

DISCLAIMER: I have not used this soap before.

I think that most people would agree that Taylor of Old Bomb Street (TOBS) creams are good. I have one of them (Rose) and it is certainly lives up to their reputation. However, I have read several times that the soap is not as good as the creams, here is an example: http://straightrazorpalace.com/soaps...ing-soaps.html

Since I have not used this soap, I cannot issue an user-based review. Some times, f the lather is a bit frothy and dries out, a bit of glycerin helps. There are other ways to trick the soap into making good lather, such as making uberlather (soap + cream + glycerin) with it. Often using an equally underperforming cream would do the trick.

Ive got a puck of TOBS sandalwood soap and a tub of their almond cream. The cream is far superior IMHO, and produces a much thicker lather. Their almond scent is much more pleasant than the sandalwood, which is not to my taste when compared with other sandalwoods that I have tried although it has become somewhat nicer in the last 14 months since I purchased it.

A great smelling sandalwood by the way is Thiers Issard shaving soap. It is as different to the TOBS sandalwood as any other scent altogether.

If you want a good sandalwood, go for the TI. I doubt I would buy TOBS again. Infact forget doubt, I'm certain I would not make another purchase from them except for their Victorian Lime cologne.

There are that many other good soaps and creams out there, reviewed by our SRP community that TOBS is history for me. The cream is good, but compared to other almond scented soap/creams such as P160, Cella and Valobra, its price and performance make it a waste of space.

I like TOBS +1 on the Rose Cream. The Avacado is awesome, I had one problem.
The Avacado turned to a soup like consistency, A Milky Liquid. No good, Only a few months...I enjoyed trying many different soap and creams, but many of these creams don't last. I wouldn't buy more than I could use in a Year's time. I think I got a bum tub of TOBS.
