I am trapped in a tornado of shaving soap.

I feel as if I am in a tornado of soap and I can't decide which one. I am asking for help so I will tell what I desire and if there is any suggestions I defiantly appreciate it.
I don't really care for creams why I don't know but if I have to I will. I like soap I love soap I am collector of bath soap I have like this fetish for them. Anyway, I have read even much as study many many many reviews on shaving soap and gone through pictures of lather made by the soap. Still I am in a tornado and I am getting quite dizzy. I bought some m.b. but I think I will return it. I want lather thats not airy not foam but thick rich lather. I want the consistency like mayo thick creamy. I am starting to lean towards tallow based even though I am still learning that. As far as smells go I rather have my consistency than smell. Yes, I love smells lavender is my lover I like williams smell just clean and simple but consistency is more important. So if there is any suggestions I definitely definitely appreciate it. I am getting dizzy!

mmm really okay. I saw the mwf the other day and like it. However, I read somewhere that it dries real quick. Part of the reason I am choosing thick like mayo is because it stays on my skin longer than the foam. Well thanks

Soaps generally produce less lather than creams, and are also harder to make so. Xpec would fit your bill, but it is a bit on the expensive side. I am convinced that with time, you will come to realise that lather that is moister than mayo is not only simpler to use but also more effective.

I agree with you on moister lather and I would love it with thick lather. However, I am a women who shaves her legs and chin (I have PCOS). Air bubbly foamy lather I might as well forget shaving. That is why I looking for thick shaving though if you think cream would be better. I am willing to give it a shot. If I only could shave with mayo!

+1 on Tabac...

also adding a pea size bit of shave cream
to a basic soap tends to make a thicker and
smoother lather.

If you can find a plastic or even stainless lathering bowl do so.
A small kitchen stainless mixing bowel (one pint) will let you build
a lather and also float it in a warm bath or sink of water. Nothing
fragile will do, when you get a good lather it will also be slippery.

you know.. i'm sure you could shave with mayo.. you'd be amazed at what works when it comes to shaving..

since you are shaving your entire legs.. have you tried dove? i used to date a girl who shaved her legs with dove and i remember it being a pretty thick lather... she had lovely soft legs too.

what are you using for a razor?

I'm gonna have to throw in a plug for MWF. I will usually add a dose of glycerine to the bowl to make a nice thick lather with MWF that doesn't dry quickly. I have pretty sensitive skin, and have found MWF to be the best in my lineup thus far.

This sounds like a job for uberlather!

Tabac is a great soap, as is MWF. I dont really find that MWF dries out that quickly, certainly no faster than any of my other soaps.

Uberlather may also be a good way to go. The best uberlather I ever made was using Trumpers Sandalwood soap, cream and skinfood.

I would also recommend Trumpers soaps anyway, as they are excellent. If you're after a cream, Penhaligons line of creams are the definitive article. They're not the cheapest, but they are truly excellent!

Well thanks everybody. I am going to buy both tabac and Mwf I found a site with great prices. However, it will be a while before I buy it. I found this flea market which they led me to an antique gold mine and lets just say I got way to excite. And now I have to wait to spend (college student). So I can't wait to try both and see what I get. I did try the cold method of shaving and it really seemed to help with williams soap plus it was a nice shave. Lately I have been using an wooden bowel for the lather but I got this idea and I am still playing with it but using a copper bowel. Call me crazy but who knows.
vthomlinson dovo? are you talking about the bird soap or the razor? You know just to try I may one day do the mayo.

If you don't mind another suggestion you might want to try cold cream or vitamin E cream, on clean skin rub in a fair amount that your comfy with, let it sit for a moment to soften the hair and shave away, rinsing the razor often to keep from clogging. You should have a nice clean shave and your skin will be nice and soft.
The creams are usually available in large containers and are inexpensive in places like Dollar Stores.
