so i was watching bbuehler10's video on uberlather and he is using a tom's of maine soap..
does it matter what kinda soap you use for uberlather? i've just been using williams with my almond tobs... or i'll use burt's bees bay rum soap with my unscented kiss my face cream.. but does it matter? can i use just anything? ideally.. how do you want to match your soaps and creams?
I use MWF because if it has a scent I can't detect it. I used scented creams so I don't want the scent of one clashing with the other. I've tried using a lime scented cream with a lime scented soap but decided that I'd rather one or the other be unscented. Other than that I just use what I like.

anyway.. just to clarify.. the soap bbuehler10 was using wasn't even a shaving soap.. it is however glycerin based.. is that all i need? i have the kiss my face unscented cream and would like to try mixing it with all the different types of all natural soaps at my hippiemart.. i love the way the oatmeal soap smells.. and it's only $2.. it is as i mentioned.. not a shaving soap.. but is glycerin based.
I have found that the KMF is one of the most universal creams out there, it mixes well with just about anything...
The other cream that is very friendly with just about any soap, is the old Body Shop formula, I haven't tried the new Maca Root version enough to say that yet for sure, but it looks promising too......
The other thing to watch is the amount of Glycerin added to the mix, I only add 5 drops I have noted that some of the vids add way more, you need to watch that for 2 reasons..
1. too much can kill the lather
2. too much can burn the face
So keep that in mind and adjust from there to what works for you...
Not really. I use Erasmic, Edwin Jagger, TGQ, and SRD soaps along with various creams, plus a few drops of glycerin to make uberlather. You want to use a soap that lathers well, though. So far the best I have found that is relatively inexpensive is Valobra Soft Shaving soap. It lathers like crazy; and when combined with a cream such as Castle Forbes or Erasmic, makes tons of lather (superlather)--even without adding gycerin.
+1 on the "easy on the glycerin"... too much glycerin really ruins it.. i'm down to adding only a couple drops.. well 3 to be exact.. a guess that's a "few" and not a "couple"
i'm gonna go ahead and buy a puck of the oatmeal soap and see how things work out.. i'll post an update.
I must say that I've had some combos that do not work, but my two favs are CarrieM's lime and Alraz's SoCa Bomb mixed, then I like tom's of maine with edwin jagger soap. I don't know why, but these just work well together. And although I have found some combos that don't work I don't know why.
I think a lot of guys use either cheap soaps or underperforming soaps for uberlather when first trying it out. But why stop there? The sky's the limit.
