It would depend on how often you shaved, how many passes.
There's too many factors to take into consideration, to be exact.
I use a 65g tub of Edwin Jagger soap, and shave about every two days or so with three passes, and it lasts on average, 5 months.
It would depend on a whole bunch of things.
How much soap you used each shave, how often you shave, whether you have any other soaps in the rotation with it...
When I started I had a puck of Trumpers sandalwood soap and that lasted me about 4 months of daily use.
Let's see.....
I started wetshaving in 2001. I bought my first Tabac in 2002. I am on my second refill (thrid total, since I bought the jar full) of tabac. I have about 15 soaps and 10 creams. Tabac is used maybe third most often. I shave 5-6 times a week, doing three FULL fluffy lathered passes.
So,
9/15 * 10/15(5.5)
------------------
9/15(5.5) * 3.3
So, a tub of tabac lasts a decent long time. I'm guessing 4-5 months if it was your only soap, and you weren't overly cautious/cheap with it.
Disclaimer...do not attempt to figure out what I meant by the above. I am a lawyer. By this I do not mean "Whoa...watch out, I'm a slick-speakig smart-guy who can whamboozle you with my wits." I mean I can't do math. Not even a little. If I could do math or computery-stuff, or any generally usefull skills, I never would have had to go to lawschool. I don't even know what I meant by the above. All I know is I feel like I should charge you at least two hours for it.
It really does depend on how you use it.
I make lather in a separate bowl and don't discard the left over unused lather. As a result, my soaps always last from 5 to 7 years. I used Tabac exclusively for over a year and a half and I would guess it will last longer than most. I would definitely get more than 7 years from a single puck of Tabac if I still used just one soap at a time. It's good stuff!
I've kept that segment of my learned bretheren well-fed myself.
I wish I could make soap last that long. As someone who tries to tread as lightly on our planet and its resources as possbile, I thought I was already doing so with my method of shaving....apparently not as lightly as I could!!
in case this is a trick question, the tub should last a lot longer than the soap
And the soap lasts a long time, even if you use it. I'm still using a small chunk of tabac that Slartibartfast sent me probably 3 months ago by now. It doesn't seem to want to be used up!
I think in general a tub of most soaps if used every day will last in the 4-6 month time frame on average. Probably triple milled soaps last longer than the softer glycerin types.
Ha!
Yes, with an attorney in the thread, we'd all better use precise language!
At MN meetup two years ago ChrisL cut out a small bit of soap from my puck. Even though I used the soap daily for at least a year after that, I can still see the notch he left when he cut it. Tabac does seem to last longer than most soaps even with the way I use it.
As others pointed out, it depends on how often you use it, how much you load onto the brush, etc.
Come on guys, 4-5 months to use up a puck? What are you doing, eating the stuff? :p
My soaps all seem barley dished, including some TOBS that I picked up nearly two years ago. My puck of Tabac is not dished at all, and I bought that in May '09......
Does anyone know where one could procure a tub (with soap puck) in the uk? The only place I have seen is amazon.

I got a year out of my last puck of MWF. I used it nearly everyday and really loaded the brush up.
Creams give me about two to three months when used exclusively.
Here's a great place in Yorkshire, posted by another member...
Wingham Wool Work - Quality Fibres and Accessories
The MWF Bath Soap is great stuff too....
Since I started wet shaving I have consumed 1 tube of Speick, 1 tube of EJ seabuckthorn cream, 0.5 small puck of Col Conk Almond, and I've made a noticeable dent in a tub of Proraso I've had for 2 years.
I shave about 3 times a week. I always generate more lather than absolutely needed. :)
My son has a puck of DR Harris triple milled going on 14 months and there is no signs of it giving up the farm yet!!
It depends on how often you use it and how much you load your brush with the soap each time you shave.
I've had a puck of soap last me anywhere from 12-24 months. But then, I didn't use it that much.
I have a tub of Tabac that I have been using more than any other soap/cream and it looks like it is brand new. I am going on about two full months of use at approximately 3 days a week and I swear it looks like it has not even been used. I can see this lasting two - three years easily
I have a puck of MWF that I have been using for approximately the same length of time and also approximately 3 days a week and it shows some signs of use, but I can see it lasting at least a year.
My mamabears soaps which are Glycerin based have been used approximately once a week and actually show more use than my daily Tabac and MWF.
The only creams I have used are Alraz and Carrie M. Al's products come in smaller tubs and I mix these with my soaps and use individually but I can see these being used up in 2 - 3 months.
I'm almost disappointed because I want to purchase a new soap, but can't justify it because I love both Tabac and MWF and can't do it until they are used up.
There are plenty of places online, by vendors based in the UK. But I am also going to suggest that you try your local chemist. That's where I first saw Tabac back in my pre-teen days (long time ago now). I also bought a few soaps from there too. Sometimes you may have to look a bit hard for it though...
Right, so you've had plenty of replies here, so I won't go over what was already said. I will give you a couple of examples though that illustrate just how much all the factors mentioned will vary and mean your results could be different.
I had a puck of Tabac back in 2005 or 2006 (can't remember exactly). I used it once or twice, before giving it to my dad. He used it for 8 months daily and tends to make a thin lather but doesn't tend to rinse everything off the puck afterwards. After 8 months it ended up looking like a hoola hoop (i.e. had a very large hole in it). Can't remember if he continued to use that or if he threw it out.
In my experience, I had a puck of Trumper's Rose for more than 3 years. I shave 3 times a week and that lasted quite well, being triple-milled. Even after 3 years there was a huge chunk left, which I duly handed over to my brother.
Until it's gone of course. Sorry, I just couldn't resist. The hard milled soaps generally last longer than either creams or the softer high glycerine soaps, but it is really hard to be quantitative on something that depends so much on individual practice and technique.
