Interesting. Classic made a wool fat competitor to MWF? And I see that they even have different scents to boot....
I don't foresee myself running out to replace my MWF anytime soon, but now I'm curious as well to hear if anyone has tried these out yet.
I read reviews and heard its good stuff!..some people who posted their shaving gear had pics of Wool Fat Soap somewhere :beer1:
pcdad
Call this unfair bias (because it is!) but based on the miserable performance I got from their other soap products I'm going to assume this one stinks too and save my money. YMMV.
The first ingredient is olive oil which isn't the greatest for a shave soap...think I'll pass...and you gotta have some real cohones to charge more for it than MWF.
I agree, I think it's kinda pricey for what it is.....MWF has Tallow, Glycerin and Lanolin...Way more bang for your buck...
Considering you can get almost two pucks of MWF from across the pond for that price, why would you even bother trying it out.
The regular classic soap is a joke too
i also was interested in it at one point.. till i realized MWF is less expensive.. same with classic's cream.. tobs can be had for less.
Can I just quickly ask what people don't like about Classic Shaving's shaving soaps?
I could see someone wanting to try these if they like MWF's lather but hate its scent
Well it looks like most if not all of you have the same thoughts I have on this. I can't justify the price versus MWF and as said before the Classic Brand soap does not have the best rep. The only(and I mean ONLY) good point I can see here was brought up by Hoglahoo about the sent but at $20 a puck........I'll stick with my MWF and Ogallala. Thanks for you opinions guys.
I could never justify spending $20 for a puck of soap, not when there are so many perfectly good $7-8 ones out there.
most of a favourite soaps are under 6 dollars.. i still use burts bees bay rum regularly.. and i can't wait to try the ogallala <-- how many l's?
+1
I finally wore out my puck of Burts Bees and since I have to mail
order for it I think I will try Ogallala next time I am placing an order for
something.
I might add that the more I learn about "latherin" the more I
discover that my early likes and dislikes had a LOT to do
with my skills. Soaps that I discounted as being poor
have recently surfaced as favorites.
The only thing that has not changed is my allergies. Soap
that makes my head stuff up or give me a rash get tossed.
I happen to have a couple spare pucks of MWF so it
will be more a year before I get to try the version that Classic
Shaving has.
In terms of the high price soaps I have yet to try that one
with extravagant amounts of Bulgarian Rose Otto Essential Oil.
For that price I would sure cry if it made me sneeze and I had to
toss it.
I can tell ya that their West Indies Bay gave me a nice shave this morning.
Your water, your methods, your likes, you dislikes and your
mileage may vary.
