Seriously, according to wikipedia, "Veganism is a small movement in the countries where it has been measured, ranging from 0.2% in the United States[4][nb 1] and 0.25% in Britain[nb 2][5], to between 0.27% and 1.6% in Sweden.[10]" Think what you want about wikipedia, but at least this entry is attributed to outside sources. Are they really that worried about such a small (yet vocal, I'll admit) group? I think cost might be the bigger driver; vegan appeal is just a side benefit.
