I've been at it for over a year and I haven't used up any soaps or creams, although I did convert my Williams to a bath soap and it is gone.

Before I got way too involved with this and got way to many soaps and creams. When I only had one soap, a glycerin based cake used every day would last about 2 and a half months.

You sure can. My father did it for years.

Soap lasts quite a while. Several months at least.

Shaving soap is a bargin anyway you look at it. I used hot water directly in the mug at first and went through it a bit faster. Now I have the badger brush and it holds the heat in without pouring hot water on the soap.

One thing to remember about soaps. Hard soaps and triple milled soaps can be soaked in hot water for a few minutes before hitting with the brush. Soft soapr, glycerin soaps, see-through soaps, will melt away much quicker if you use the soaking technique.
