seems like a stupid idea.. but i was considering leaving the cap off a tub of cream and allowing it to harden.. so i could load my brush like a soap..
think i'm wasting a good jar of cream? or does it matter?

Why can't you load your brush with cream when it's soft?
I am thinking the same thing. Just load your brush "like a soap" with the cream soft. If you want a hard soap, why not just buy a hard soap? If there is a valid reason though, I'd like to know about it.
i have several creams i hardly ever use since i enjoy my soaps so much more.. i just figured i'd try letting a tub dry out and see if i like the results..
you know how us wetshavers are.. always wanting to try something new.

Whatver works for you. As far as letting your creams harden, I don't know. I've had one seperate on me, and few dried out bit. It should work, your basically letting the moisture dry up, and once you re hydrate it, It should be fine...
While I wouldn't deliberately dry one out, I received some TOBS that was dry - like a soft soap. It does load like a soap, except much faster. 'Performs wonderfully.
Yes, you can lather a dried up cream (hard consistency) exactly like a soap, it works very well.
I bought a tub of DR Harris last year, and it was the old formula and was hard. You could indent it with a fingernail, but you couldn't push a finger into it. I tried to rehydrate it back to a cream consistency, but in the end I gave up since I was getting fantastic lather by using it as a soap.
So while there isn't a lathering issue, I guess I'd have to ask why you'd intentionally do this to a good cream? If you like soaps better, just buy the soap version instead....
