What Cream Should I Buy Next?

I've tried Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar, TOBS Eton College, Speick, Musgo Real, Body Shop Macca Root and am getting La Toja (sensitive skin) shortly. I've used Proraso soap and Windsor soap. I like all of these, well, maybe not so much the Windsor.
I value glide, cushion and SCENT. I'd like a scent that is different and lingers (I only have one AS; Trafalgar, so would like a cream that has a lasting scent of its own...
Budget is about 20-30. It's hard to get creams and soaps in Aust, so I'm limited to online suppliers that post to Aust. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I'm considering Tabac, Martin de Candre, Osma, maybe TF 1805...It's Spring here in SA so a scent suitable for Spring would be nice. I work a 'suit and tie' (sans tie; they're stupid) job, so would like a scent suitable for Mon - Fri (I think some scents are better for the working week than weekend relaxing, etc). Any ideas?

While not a top shelf cream based on cost, I absolutely adore the Palmolive cream. The scent isn't bad and it will linger for a few hours but will be noticeable by you alone. It has amazing cushion & glide. It should also run you $3-4 at your local chemist/drug store/whatever you call such things down under.

Get some Castle Forbes.

the palmolive punches way above it's weight and everyone owes it to themselves to try it for the sake of very little money compared to the other creams out there i have all sorts of posh soaps and creams and i rate the palmolive with the best of them. If you can get the hold of the palmolive sensitive with aloe vera, it's maybe even a little better. Just managed to get some posted over by a friend in europe, great if you have sensitive skin.

Another great inexpensive cream to try is Godrej. Has a kind of Barbasol/baby powder scent, but has some of the best, richest lathers you will ever find.Has lanolin also so it leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Yeah? Serous? I used to use that before I 'saw the light' and changed from a Bic to a straight. I've always used cream (in a tube) not a can. Palmolive is rather 'mundane' for me...

Guys, at the risk of being annoying, where do you get your creams from? I've looked up all of these on the sites I normally use (those that ship to Australia) and can only find a couple of them. As for scent and your job, it doesn't really matter as the scent is gone as soon as you rinse. Unless you buy a cologne or edt in the same scent. :)

Personally I love Penhaligons Endymion shaving cream, great performance and a truly luxurious scent, so much I bought the cologne as well. :)

Hi Blix, thanks for the links. Yeah, I know most scents go pretty quickly, but some just GO with either the 'office' or mowing lawns, etc. I like Speick for Saturdays and T&H Trafalgar for Mon-Fri generally... :-)

Sorry for the late reply (is it just me, or was the site down? I couldn't get on at home or work even!). It was the brushless stuff maybe, in a tube, Palmolive classic or whatever. I guess I just like (good) creams and soaps from far-flung interesting sounding places. Not even sure where Palmolive is made. It's probably very good. I guess the Germans see Speick as quite ordinary and the Portugese may see Musgo Real as run-of-the-mill too.

On the Palmolive cream, that gets the big thumbs up from me. Because it dosent have a strong scent i tend use it to make uber lather with other "finer" scented soaps. I just bought some Crabtree & Evelyn - Nomad. If you want a soap that gives off a strong scent then this is a good option. When you stick your nose in to the bowl at first its quite overpowering but once mixed up into a lather (or combined with palmolive) its devine. Very nicely complimented when followed up with the Nomad after shave balm too. There is a guy based in England who posts stuff down under, google "The Invisible Edge" The price you see is the price you pay, he's very reasonable and he stocks a great selection of razors, soaps, strops and all other cool shave stuff. The dude is on holiday just now but he will return on Monday 19th. If you drop him an email he always gets back to you with helpful info. I have bought stuff off him a few times, highly recomended. I love the adventure of finding new soaps... its great. Happy soap hunting mate.

You're right John, the Nomad soap is quite strong - first sniff in the bowl reminded me of the guys changing room after PE! The aftershave on the other hand smells great!!!

I'm still loving the Arran Aromatics stuff, the cologne splash smells so good it should be illegal! :D

Carl, if there are any creams/soaps from the UK that you are struggling to get 'Down Under' just let me know; I'd be happy to place an order on your behlaf and possibly save you on some excessive shipping fees.

Thanks for this, and + 50 billion on the Nomad, I love it! I'll look up The Invisible Edge. I'm finding new sites (and thanks to all who posted some). I'm finding I need to go to a lot of sites to get a range of stuff. Also, it appears to me that the Euro is pretty weak against the AU Dollar at the moment! It was only a few years ago the AU bought only 70 US and I think it was almost 1/2 a EU. In fact, I've found I can get Dovo strops from Spain I think it is for about a third of what I can buy them here in a shop, so even with postage it's worth it. No wonder the 'brick and mortar' stores are worried!

Ah you had the brushless, this makes a big difference, and i see what your saying about wanting a posh cream. I have any number of posh creams and soaps and the palmolive is my go to most days, performs equally well as i said. the beauty of it is you can still buy your posh cream and get the palmolive as its dirt cheap ;) it also as said makes an excellent uber, i uber'd it last night with the penhaligons fern soap, and the scents complimented each other extremely well, in addition to making the most sumptious uber i've ever had

oh forgot to say, if your talking about NOMAD check out the sandalwood and sienna soaps also, i have the C&E sienna and the trumpers snadalwood. I think the C&E performs better than trumpers and after having smelled the C&E sandalwood, i'll be replacing the trumpers with it when i've finished the trumpers as the C&E has a much stronger smell, comparable with trumpers sandalwood cream.

Penhaligons Fern Soap; sounds interesting, I might look around the 'net for it... :-)

"on par with some higher end ones"
"when using a brush, it explodes in your face. The good way"

Or something like that. They also might have said "a good cream for a great price". I have a poet's mind. But for £15/2 glass tubs of 150ml, incl. shipping, I'm a very willing guinea pig.

All the MdC soaps are the same, they just come in different jars/tubs. And the unscented version.

Just a little note of caution: the Mandarin and Patchouli Brushless shave cream does not lather!
It really is a brushless cream, no way to make any sort of lather out of it, I tried about 10 different ways, to no avail. No fault on the manufacturer's account, even the instructions make no mention of a brush anywhere. Haven't tried shaving with it brushless. Makes a good pre-shave for me. In a cool glass container.

HOWEVER the Cederwood and Clarysage shaving cream: dear god, as if I fell face-first into a tub of cedar-flavoured whipped cream!! Copious is the word. It hardly needs any water, and apparently can also be used as a brushless cream, although I haven't tried. This is SERIOUSLY good stuff, IMHO better lather than my TOBS Lemon & Lime (although I prefer the scent on the TOBS).

Cederwood and Clarysage it is then!

i absolutely cannot find this stuff here...... and when i search it on the net the cheapest i find with shipping is like $20.........

strange....

The Art of Shaving Sandalwood and Lavender creams are some of my favorite scents and perform great.
