Based on the recommendations I've seen on this and other boards, I've put together a wish list of creams I'd like to try.
• Irisch Moos
• Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet
• Domenico Caraceni 1913 Shaving Cream
My question to the group; has anyone here tried all three of these? I currently use C.O. Bigelow Premium which is basically Proraso without the extra import markup.
Caraceni is tops on my list to try some day.
:hmmm:No one seems to have it in stock right now. My European friends tell me there are literally hundreds of niche, low production, and area-specific brands out there just waiting to be tried. It boggles the mind.
Good luck. Word is that it's been discontinued, though I'm still awaiting confirmation from official sources. Too bad, since it's consistenty voted as a #1 by shaving cream connoisseurs, and for good reason.Quote:

If it's consistently voted #1 by shaving cream connoisseurs, it obviously sells well. Is there something I'm missing here?
I have tried all 3 and they are great soaps. I love the DC cream out of all of them. For my money here are my top 3
Santa Maria Novella
Tabac
p. 160 Morbido
I have the Penhaligon and the DC.
IMHO the DC is in a league of its own, the Pen is very good though.
But no biggie, here are numerous others who performs brilliantly as well:)
It is sad to see that the DC is so scarce right now, I sure hope they will start up production again.
DC is top of my list too. I've tried the other's as well, I wasn't too fond of Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet at first, but it is a good soap.
I do have a different Holly Trinity:
1.Martin de Candre.
2.La Toja Manantiales.
3.Mitchells Wool Fat.
Having recently become the beneficiary of a tub of DC, I can say it is an incredible performer. I'll be rationing it until they bring it back into production!
That said, there are a lot of wonderful options out there. The BB is a great performer, but not as good as some others. I commend you to try the RazoRock XXX and Al's Shaving's Bomb is top notch in a cream. For soaps, you can't get much better than Martin de Candre. Of course, YMMV...

Since the original topic of this thread is creams and not soaps, I'll stick with creams. I admit a disappointment in Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, as I had expected more. Then just when I was ready to try Domenico Caraceni, the cream's production was discontinued. Now that's not very friendly. Next I plan to try Santa Maria Novella, provided production does not stop there, too. Castle Forbes still rules for me. I also have a soft spot for Truefitt & Hill's Ultimate Comfort (unscented) cream. That's about it. There are many other fine creams, but none stands out for me.
The one I was truly disappointed in was Lucky Tiger. IMHO, a very hyped product and I had to use 2x the amount suggested to get a fair lather. It didn't moisturize any better than my Proraso.
And to all...
I truly appreciate your many suggestions. One of the really cool things about a site like SRP is having all of this knowledge and experience in one place. It's a little daunting (and expensive), to experiment with some of these creams and soaps. Thank you for your tutelage!
I've tried the caraceni once and loved it, now I just have to find it again. Have not tried the other two.....yet

The 1kg brick - "Crema Sapone Extra Extra Purissima" - is a SOAP.
sapone means soap, if you want: "creamy soap"
The other one in the red bowl - "Crema da Barba all'Olio di Mandorla" - is a shaving cream. same here, its name already gives us the hint: "crema da barba".
loose translation -> "cream for shaving" - real translation would be "shaving cream".
Wouldn't the 1kg brick of soap dry your skin as opposed to the Crema da Barba?
