Gentlemen-
I was knocking around the retail sites when I came across XPEC cream - at a price that was more than double that of Castle Forbes! You get 50ml more but... Anyone have experience with this stuff?
Thanks, Gags

Well, spill the beans man, where was this excactly?
It is a very good product, thought to be more or less discontinued..
Yes, It's back. XPEC Original Shaving Cream | RoyalShave
Xpec is a top notch shave cream made by Forester, The same folks that brought you Domenico Caraceni.
Xpec was around a while ago, then taken off the market for reformulation.

The price has gone up, and the container is bigger, now 250ml, but well worth it imho.
I recently purchased the new Xpec, Same as the old, We lost Caraceni, but got Xpec back....
They have a full line of products, including a non scented version. One of the people that worked on it, is Shirley Brody, She also helped design Czeck and Speake 88, and Penhaligons to name a few.
Great... I was hoping I'd never have another opportunity to buy this stuff after hearing it was discontinued. At that price, it'll be tough, but I'm sure I'll eventually pull the trigger
That's really good news!
Thanks for the link.
Well, on behalf of all those who live in the US.... ;)
It's made in Milan Italy, it must be available in the UK somewhere....
Hot diggedy, more good news.
Thanks altshaver, for posting the link.
By the way, I was able to score some Xpec from Royalshave after all.
Turns out international sales was available after all...
I've taken delivery on some XPec products.
It was well worth the wait, I must say.
The cream I knew from before, but the AS gel and the Cologne was new to me.
The scent was rather intense and very good IMHO, I even got immediate wife approval on the scent, and that's always a plus;)
I used the XPec products for the first time today. I must admit that I was a bit put off by the price - it is not cheap! But the performance is outstanding! The cream is luxurious and efficacious beyond belief. And the cologne has excellent longevity. The scent itself is very complex, and very masculine. If it is within your means, you should definitely try the products. That said, I recognize not everyone can or should spend that kind of money on a tub of cream. But it's really not as out of line as you think. The tub is roughly twice the size of a tub of Castle Forbes. And amazingly so is the price!
Ultimately, as we all know, YMMV in everything in this sport, but for my money, I'm not upset that I purchased the XPec!
Can someone direct me to an online Euro shop which sells this Xpec ShavingCream please :)
I have to get it for myself as a Christmas present !!!
I fully agree with this, the price might not be right, but the performance sure is
When I ordered mine, I was unable to find any stores over here in Europe.
That said, Royal shave does offer international shipping via a 3rd party company.
It doesn't excactly make the products cheaper, but it gets the job done quickly;)
I have about half a tub of the original XPEC left. The positive about having so many creams and soaps is that they seem to be almost impossible to deplete!
I have the cologne also. It is a very strong tuberose, and in the views of many, a little mature for a man in his late twenties. I like it, but seldom use it.
The cream itself is second to none in performance and was and still is, excellent value for money. £23 pounds was what I think I paid for it, about 18 months ago. There is an in-depth review of it by former member Robin who posted here as 'BeBerlin,' his review which prompted my purchase whose opinion I valued to which subsequently to sampling the cream, contributed to his comments with my own experience.
If you are a cream fanatic, you absolutely need this, subject to your liking of Rose/Tuberose.
Where in the UK did you buy it ??
The www.Xpec.co.uk site shop is always 'under maintenance' - has been so for a year now ......
Thanks to this thread I pulled the trigger on the cream and after shave balm. Should be here when I get home tomorrow. Wednesday mornings shave decision is no brainer to see if this hype holds up.
Kind of wish I didn't click on this thread as I foresee a tub of this stuff getting purchased in the future.
Anyone want to comment on the scent? Is it really Rose and Tuberose? I love rose, but am not a fan really at all of tuberose so if this is in here, how strong is the scent?
Joe, the tuberose, wild thyme and citrus top is very nice. It's not strong on the tuberose but rather gives a nice floral accord. The middle notes don't really show up in the SC like they do in the EdT. The base is where this stuff shines. It's an oak moss and cedar and it's absolutely wonderful! That drydown was noticeable to me in the SC because I really took some time whipping it up and lathering to enjoy the cream and the scent. In the EdT, it's something to behold. I loved the dry down immensely and the EdT has tremendous longevity to boot!
Someone say something bad about this cream before I actually spend $80 on a cream. I hate all of you! Especially you Bill!!!!!! :banghead::banghead::banghead:
I picked up a tub of xpec scented during a black friday sale. Came out to about 60% off. I can't stand the smell. But, I'm not a fan of old man cologne scents. Performance wise it's fine, but I've only had one shave with it so far. Will not be buying this again and I have no idea why it costs $80 normally.
I think once you reach a certain price point the technical aspects of the preparation are the same. You pay for the name and the scent. I have Xpec and the lathering abilities are no better than Castle Forbes however the scent is in another class.
You know, it has that je ne se quois.
Scent is one of those things people react differently to. In this case I think most would say it's very fine stuff.
I own and enjoy the Xpec Scented version, but got a little reaction to the pepper note in it. So gave mine to my GF, she uses it for her legs now - and just bought the unscented version of ti, which I will mix with some of the Musgo Real scented creams.......
