    Default Über Überlather

    XPEC Unscented Shaving Cream,
    Mama Bear's Unscented Glycerin,
a spray of A*Men Pure Malt,
    men-Ü Premier Shaving Brush
    and the Dirtybird Double

I have never made a lather that was so thick and creamy which never even began to dry out on my face before completing my shave. The men-Ü Premier Shaving Brush is know for making lots of lather and it did not disappoint, for after 4 passes I still had enough lather remaining for a couple more. I used the remaining lather like a facial, smothering my face with the thick creamy goodness, relaxing in the moment and imagining that I was floating in a pool of fine Scottish Whiskey while munching from a bowl of fresh berries.

That's some sweet looking lather! I just read about Uberlater earlier today, and I had to try it out. Just got back from Walmart with a bottle of glycerin, and I'm looking forward to my shave tomorrow.

Fantastic looking lather. You know, I've had no luck making uber lather with transparent glycerin soaps and I tried a bunch of them (not Mamma Bear). Maybe it's my water?

That DB double is a monster! Love it!

I will have to try it with my unscented VDH in place of Mama Bear's for a comparison. I always pour a layer of warm water over my glycerin soaps and let it stand for a couple minutes to soften the surface of the soap before loading.

I have also tried Mama Bear's Glycerin with The Art Of Shaving(AOS) unscented and Fitjar Neroli creams. Even though they made great Über they did not match the XPEC. The AOS lather was the closest in terms of performance, but just a little less thick and creamy. I made a better looking lather with the Fitjar than I did with than AOS, but the Fitjar lather did not have the longevity of the others and began to dry at the end of my last pass and I got a nick with my EJ DE89BA11.

Don't know if there could have been other factors in the equation like water content and/or lathering technique which may have contributed to performance of each so I will need to try a couple more times before making a definitive comparison.

If you're using your scuttle I'm guessing that the water is too hot and it's breaking down the lather. Easy thing to do with transparent glycerin soaps as their melting point is usually quite low.
