AOS cream or C&E?

AOS cream or C&E?

I was recently browsing my monthly credit cards rewards program, and noticed that they offered AOS products, as well as C&E shaving products.

Since these items are "free," which one do you guys recommend? I have tried the AOS sandalwood cream and enjoyed it, but I have heard good things about the C&E cream as well.

Should I go with a tub of the AOS or a tub of the C&E? Should I even stick with the sandalwood or do these companies have scents that are far superior?

So far my only experience with creams/soaps has been AOS sandalwood, and ClassicShavings Lavendar and Sandalwood... Im a total newbie

I haven't used AOS, but as for C&E, they make crappy soaps but good creams. My fav. scent is Nomad.

I'll second that recommendation on the C&E creams. My personal favorite is the sweet almond oil cream. Be forwarned, it does not smell anything at all like any of the other almond creams on the market. Love the lather and the scent.

I agree with Ed. I've tried the C&E almond oil, and it's really nice stuff.

I also like that they give you this neato 'key' to wind up the tube with as it starts to run out. I am easily amused by shiny things.

Actually I'm not a big fan of that particular scent. A bit too sweet and feminine for my tastes.

While we're on the topic, there is something that I've been wondering about since reading these forums and the BadgerandBlade site. It seems that AOS has a really negative stigma. The few that do use it and enjoy it seem to swear by it, but the general consensus seems to be extremely against it. Is it because the product is overpriced? The quality of the goods? Mass-marketing?

I've never tried AOS (probably never will) primarily because of the price. No one to my knowledge has ever suggested that AOS is as good as Castle Forbes, but it is priced comparably. I figure that if I cannot justify paying a super premium price for a SUPER PREMIUM product--yes, Castle Forbes IS that good, then I certainly will not pay through the nose for AOS.

My opinion is worth what you've paid for it :p

I again must concur with the Senior Member from Alabama.

AOS is grossly overpriced. It certainly doesn't have the pedigree of any of the comparably priced products, and I don't think it's as good. I wouldn't drop the money for it.

I have used both C&E's sweet almond and Nomad and I love them both. They are superior shaving creams and smell great AOS is simply overpriced:cen

C&E's Nomad, Almond, Sienna...all good with me. I haven't tried the Sandalwood as I am not a big sandalwood fan. The big knock on AOS products it their price. If I'm not mistaken, their shaving creams are made by Creighton's, who makes most of the shaving creams that are highly tauted. They don't get panned on performance, just price. I plan to pick up a tub of the Lavender since it is available locally and I won't have to ship it. My preference is for their shampoo and conditioner...also overpriced, but what a great experience it is to use them.

If I see the prices correctly, CE Sandalwood is 5.3 ounces for $25 and AOS is 5.3 ounces for $22. So I dont think AOS is overpriced. I know Taylors run about $14 or so for that amount and Trumpers is around $25 to $28 for 7 ounces. I think AOS is marketing, but it is not a bad cream.

I used AOS Lavender today. Incredible scent, thick creamy lather, great lubrication, wonderful shave. Yeah, pricey compared to Taylor's, but since I CAN get it locally and forego shipping, I'll buy it!

Being English I'm biased towards English creams (Taylors, Trumpers etc), but i do have a tub of AOS Lavender shave cream and it's excellent.

It should be. As I understand it, Creighton's also makes AOS.
