I just got some of this stuff because I read a review of it over at b&b, and there just so happens to be a store in Honolulu. I have to say that I was sceptical of the purchase due to the price.
But I really, really like it. Its my first soap (oh, they grow up so quick). The scent is light but delicious (juniper), and the lather is friggin great! Hopefully it will last a long time, and make me feel better about spending $30 on soap.
It lasts me about a year and a half. Refills are less costly.

one of my favourites. try the CADE AS balm - also one of my favorites. Also have the Vetyver - not bad at all, not one of my all time favs but definitely a nice daily scent

The soap is incredible. I bought mine on the road, and just went for the refill. It's hard to beat, even if a bit on the expensive side.

Yeah, true dat! I did the same - I was out in SF on business last week, and happened to be near a L'Occitane store, so I decided to drop in and grab up a puck of the shaving soap (refill only - opted for a little $2 plastic kitchen bowl from the Container Store instead of the fancy pants pewter bowl...). VERY good stuff. Great (and quick) lather and a mild, subtle scent. I'm still partial to Colleen's soaps, but I've now added the CADE to my soap bullpen.Quote:

So Colleen's soaps rival, or for some... are better, than L'Occitane??? how does one obtain one of her soaps. I have not been able to find a website.

I have some Olivia's bay rum shaving cream that has been used 4 times. Would anyone want to swap one of colleen's creams (or maybe soaps) for this?

That is the refill. I believe I paid $12 for my refill. The $30 soap comes in a metal container.

That explains it. I had a look at their bowl and wondered whether it isn't too shallow to whip a lather. Or is one supposed to put the soap in a mug? I would prefer a bowl and mug in one! That's how I used to buy my soaps before I started using creams.
The soap does come to the top of the bowl.

Interesting. Maybe I should give the soap a try. I was, to say the least, underwhelmed by their creams. And the price is very dear, when I could have a top quality cream for the same money.
I would definitely give it a try. I've been using it all week and it is very good. Buy the REFILL though for $12 and just drop it in a mug or better yet one of those plastic ziplock containers (they're excellent for storing soaps). You can lather right up in the container. Hope this helps.Quote:

Is there a big difference between the CADE soap and the cream? I saw both in a shop yesterday and decided to buy a tube of the cream at £14, the refill pucks of soap were £7.50 - I'm thinking I should have gone for the soap instead but I own very few creams so I fancied a change. Maybe i'll buy the soap when I've used the cream up.
I have never used the cream but it has gotten a lot of bad reviews here and at the other sites (SMF, B&B). The soap had been mentioned highly so I gave it a chance. I'm happy I did as it works very well for me. It is the most moisturizing thing I've used amongst creams and soaps. And of course the shave is smooth. Hope that helps.

It's funny you say that but I used the cream last night and again this morning, and I wasn't overly impressed with it other than the nice fragrance. I suspect I was making the lather a little too dry, either that or it just doesn't work for me.
I'll pick up a refill puck of the soap in the week, as I should have done in the first place!

I picked up the CADE soap puck yesterday, and just gave it a try this morning. Very different to the cream (for me at least), the soap lathered easily and gave a great shave. It smelled good and for £7.50 I think it's superb value. This is definately one of my favourites, alongside Tabac, Colleens, Penhaligons, Proraso..... :roflmao
I'll have to check that out. I was in a city the other day and saw a L'Occitane shop there. We didn't have time to go into it (or money:D) but next time I'm there I'll definately have a look.
I've been reading this forum on the CADE soap so when I saw the L'Occitane shop in a TV spot here at work I went and picked up a refill size today. Haven't had a chance to try it, I'm sure it's great.

I went into L'Occitane the other day and they gave me a sample of their Cade shave cream. They don't regularly offer samples of their shave cream, but the salesperson offered me a squeeze of their sample tube into an empty metal candle container she had available.
I tried it this morning, and found that the lather was pretty slick and provided a thin but dense lather. It requires very little water so I used a boar brush that I soaked in hot water, then gave it a couple shakes to remove most of the water. I think it smells classy, and didn't leave my face dry at all, but it did burn my skin in the mustache area. I'd never experienced anything like this before. Shaved and rinsed and the burn was gone. I hope this doesn't happen with other creams/soaps that I have and haven't tried yet.
Would anyone know what the ingredient in Cade shave cream could cause this? I wonder if it would be the same with the Cade soap? I don't have any known allergies. Then I could watch out for it in other soaps/creams.
Try the AS too, like Bay Rum but with juniper, veeeeery nice.

+1 with Amund. The AS is great. Also, CADE is one of my favorite soaps. I haven't tried the cream yet but I don't think I need to. The lather is nice and thick, a bit like Tabac's (though not as dense).
