It's up to you. IMO it's not worth it, but on the other hand it is vintage and no longer readily available....
EDIT: I just realized it's only one puck. So a DEFINITE no from me.
Theres so many other soaps and creams out there that I'd like to try for that price. Vintage or not...to me, it's a puck of soap thats meant to be used. Even though I've heard the formulation has changed you can get a puck for a few bucks at many places:shrug:
:banghead:
:rofl2::roflmao:
:aargh::gaah:
:overkill:
ebay strikes again. or "revenge of the NOS". just saying..
But, hey at least the shipping is free!
Let me put it this way. If you are some kind of a collector and want it for that purpose then it's worth it to you. As to shaving, even though the original Williams was far better quality than the stuff they make these days it still doesn't perform to the level of say a Castle Forbes or Trumpers soap and they are far less expensive than that.
I have to agree with everyone here, Although I love William's vintage stuff and their new stuff, I would never pay that much for a vintage puck...I recently found 10 pucks in a local store by me for 2 bucks each, and they were all vintage pucks, If you want one...pm me. :)
or sell them on the bay for 50 bucks a pop ;)
I wouldn't pay that for any soap regardless if it was new or old stock.
Hmm, sure it ain't cheese? Wouldn't mind spending 50$ on a big cake of Tilsit :p :p :p :p
Nope. I got this a lot cheaper than that, it is vintage......Hmmm, I must be sitting on a gold mine....:rock:
The answer is: "No". And that is the reason it hasn't sold yet.
I made an offer of $20 on it. The seller made a counter-offer which I declined.
It is one of two variants of Williams packaging (that I am aware of) that I don't have in my collection yet.
Not trying to go off topic, But how old does the soap need to be for it to be the old formula/vintage Williams? There is an antique store a few miles away that I frequent on a regular basis. They have a few pucks of Williams at $1.50 a piece. I know they are at least 20 years old due to the original retail price tag being on them from a pharmacy that closed when I was 11 or 12.
Fatty acids are prone to oxidation, will become rancid. To what extent that happens will depend on the amount of preservatives that were added by the manufacturer.
