I have the SRD as well as the Classic Shaving and like the SRD better although have mixed them together as well! I have been wanting to try the CF but havn't pulled the trigger yet but love the lather of the lime!
I have a tub of Fitjar Sandalwood SC. I find it to be a good traditional Sandalwood smell. Gotta smell deep into it to even get a good smell of it. Never used CF Cedarwood & Sandalwood, but used their Lavender AND Lime and they're great performers. They do fill up the bathroom with smell if you use them.
Ogallala Sandalwood with bayrum.. It's awesome.
I have used the classic shaving and the EJ, of those two I prefer the EJ
When I think of sandalwood I think of the fragrance of the incense . I haven't found a soap that matches it.
The only sandalwood I have is the intensely luxurious cream the Vulfix offers. Having not smelled sandalwood before, I have nothing to compare it to, but the scent is very strong.
The favorite Sandalwood for me is The Art of Shaving. I know there are other scents in there with it, but I really like that smell. The Ogallala is good stuff too.
Every time I go looking for Sandalwood, my benchmark is AOS. I like the scent of most real sandalwood though and the pure essential oil, is different from what most of us think it smells like.

For Soaps, I like SRD's Sandalwood. Creams, AOS isn't bad either. Nanny's silly soap from the UK is good as well. TOBS is a complete different type of sandalwood smell, like an old time barber shop sandalwood. Tobs sandalwood bath soap, AS Balms, and the shave cream, etc..all smell the same.
The Ogalla Sandalwood and Bayrum is excellent.
I like the TOBS sandalwood scent. But as mentioned before, it is a cream and I'm not sure if you're set on soaps.
I've tried a few Sandalwood soaps and the best so far for me is Muhle. Great lather on its own and an AWESOME Uberlather in conjunction with CF Sandalwood cream. Nice scent too.
Crabtree sandalwood scent is intoxicating. My next soap is likely to be srd sandalwood so I'm glad to hear that you liked it

I had the good fortune to mix someone's vintage Caswell Massey sandalwood essential oil with some of my generic witchhazel. It's straight up sandalwood. The SRD sandalwood I've got smells very much the same. I think SRD's is a strong, pure rendition of sandalwood.
George F. Trumper (shaving soap, haven't tried the cream) for me. I haven't tried any other sandalwood scented soaps, but I have tried various A/Ss, skin foods, and they are all too floral for me (even GFT's sandalwood skin food). For me, the GFT shaving soap is just about perfect--the scent could last longer on the skin, but the fragrance is perfect.
Hiya,
Sandalwood is a tricky scent and it seems lots of companies have their own take on what that's supposed to smell like. Some products are a sandalwood blend, and others are a single note version. Some use sandalwood EO and others use a FO instead. It also depends on where the EO comes from, since different parts of the world produce different sandalwood frags. Mysore is supposed to be the benchmark, but I can't say that's the case for everyone.
Best sandalwood soap as far as the scent goes would be the stuff that Charles sells at QED. To me, it's got a little bit of cedar going on, which I like a good bit. Very intense soap, as you would expect from a QED product. Yeah, you get a healthy blast of sandalwood all right, and it sticks around a while after the shave.
Extremely easy to lather, with some of the better performance of the various small vendors offerings. It's not always in stock, but certainly worth looking at.

Oh yeah......a word of advice for people thinking of the CF cedar/sandalwood cream: Do NOT buy this blind if you can avoid it. Try for a sample first, since this isn't a normal kinda sandalwood fregrance. Read some of the reviews on this product.
Taylor of Old Bond Street is a good performer (as is any English milled soap), though it does smell a bit like cinnamon to me. I still have some TGQ Sandalwood, and while I find the scent heavenly the performance is a bit lacking. T&H is a good bet too.
The AOS sandalwood is fantastic in both the soap and the cream.
I have the truefitt and hill sandalwood cream. Strong scent, but nice none the less.
+1 to the QED sandalwood, I have tried em all and this is by far to me at least the best sandalwood soap, it lathers great and the smell is awesome definitely give it a go :)
I really like the TOBS sandalwood scent. I have both the soap and the cream and I make an uberlather from them. I love the smell and perfomance of these products.
