Visited a Bath and Body Works and noticed they had the new C.O. Bigelow shave cream available. It was available only in the smaller 1.7 oz tube. The box looked the same as the old one, but when I read the ingredients, parabens were not listed. I compared it to the old formulation, and it was different. (What's a paraben, anyway??). The scent seemed the same, but I will see how it performs. I am not sure if anyone else has noticed, but the new formulation is available!
Thanks for the info! I was unaware that they had changed the formula. It would be interesting to give it a try.
Since Proraso changed their creams, I assumed Bigelow would show up soon
Parabens are preservatives to keep stuff from growing in our products, their is controversy over it, and according to the article I read they've been used in personal products for 70 years. So it maybe that stock piling a shave cream is a bad idea without parabens? Or some other preservative....
Proraso (who, as others have said, makes Bigelow) replaced the parabens with other preservatives ( they also replaced the SLS). The new formula is similar to the original, but tends to like a little more water, and performs a touch better. It works at least as well in hard water, too (which I was worried about)
I tend to agree with Sargon. Very similar to the original. It seems that the new cream has a bit less menthol. Not as much cooling effect, but a fantastic cream.
I got some of the newer stuff. To me, and this is only my opinion, it doesn't seem to lather as nicely.
I also bought C.O. Bigelow at Bath and Body. $5 for 1.7oz which I thought wasnt too bad. Still havent used it though. Im hoping to try the Proraso version of sandalwood in the future..
Just bought about five different kinds of creams just to test out- regular pharmacy and cheaper brands and the CO Bigelow one was one of them. It has now become my go to cream! Stuff is the best I've tried so far- even better than some of the more expensive brands I've tried!
Even though I have no idea what Parabens are I am so mad they they took that ingredient out. It's also out of all the Proraso stuff and it tottally changed the scent....everything else stayed the same except for the scent and I dont like it at all. I am totally stacking my closet with old proraso tubs from all the stores i find it in lol

I also got the C.O. Bigelow cream for Christmas and gave it a shot today. There seems to be something in it that leaves my face feeling slicker after a pass than the Proraso cream I was using. Not complaining about it but just an initial observation. But I like it and will keep using it and the price is right.
I recieved some for Christmas, and I have a new near tube of the older Proraso I honestly didn't notice a difference :shrug: but now that I know the formula changed I bet I do now hehehe
