Does any one know if and when srd is getting a new batch of sandalwood soap?
i was also wondering if the scuttles are coming back?
There is nothing out there that looks as nice as the one in the srd website.

Was just looking into buying my first straight razor set and i actually emailed the guys at SRD to ask if the knew when they were getting some of their awesome mugs in. I assume the scuttles would be in the same shipment as they most likely come from the same place. So if i hear back from them today ill fill ya in.

Thank you, Tyler. A buddy mentioned that their scuttles are the best out there they keep the lather nice and warm and the Sandalwood soap has no equal in the market.

Just received a reply from Don at SRD. It appears their potter is a little behind, but he said they should get another batch in sometime this week. Looks like ill be spending some money soon. Also i was looking into going with the SRD sandalwood as my first choice. Have you used it yourself?

I personally have not used it, but my buddy swears by it.
I was going to get it as well as one scuttle but I'll have to wait till they're in stock.
I saw a posting of a member that has quite a few soaps.
Maybe he could teel us how he likes the SRP's sandalwood soap.

I wish I had a scratch 'n sniff compatible monitor right about now. I think I'm gonna hafta get me SRD's sample pack as a 'Happy Birthday to me' gift this year.
i know how you feel. i thinks i might go TOBS sandalwood though. i already have some SRD West Indies Bay so i want to change up on the brand and see whats out there
I have to tell you guys that the soap is fantastic. It takes me a bit longer to shave than with the multi blades i guess because i am still a bit nervous. However with this soap i can wait without getting the fuzz tha normally develops with the other soaps. The sandalwood is awesome!!

When I was really into glycerine soaps( not that I don't use them I just got bitten by the triple milled and lanolin soaps)I loved srd sandalwood, it was a woodsy earthy sandalwood,which was great. Might I also recommend QED Sandalwood as well, it's the best glycerine and sandalwood soap I have used and it's still in my rotation.

I started to buy some samples from different places and I came accross a really awesome soap from Queen Charlotte Soap. If you google it you'll get the link to a competitor of SRD in a way. Amazing smell and it is tallow based.

I have tried a few srd soaps but not their sandalwood, all the ones I've tried are fantastic. Queen Charlotte also makes some great stuff.
As soon as the extra money lying around i will get an srd scuttle they are awesome. Oh and algreye good luck with the soap bug, it got me a while ago
Yeah i need to look into getting some new soaps. If been having trouble getting a good foam with my SRD West Indies. Now i know this is most likely due to my inferior skills haha but hey, ill take any excuse to try out some new soaps.
I got a blade from the vintage website and they sent me a small sample of the QCsoap. It is fantastic. Nice lather, excellent aroma. It reminds me a little bit of mild tobacco and leather smell with something else which I can't ID.

We must continue to experiment and try out everything we can get our hands on. :)
Not trying to hijack, but this video is good for lathering soap. He does it on his face, but you can just as easily take the brush to a mug, scuttle or bowl instead of your face and just add a little water at a time with your fingers and lather it up. YouTube - Building a shaving lather with a brush directly on your face. Also, I don't know if your into creams, but I just tried the new Proraso Red Sandalwood and IMO its really nice. Good thick lather and, to me, the nicest sandalwood aroma I've used. Good luck, and good shaves guys.Quote:

Queen Charlotte Soap is great... But if you get it, I would highly recommend getting the sample pack before getting a full tub unless you know exactly what scent you want. I am particularly fond of the Key Lime (The best Lime I have had by far) although I have the Col. Conk Glycering lime, the godrej deluxe lime, and the Crabtree an Evelyn West Indian Lime... I also really like Monaco, Green Irish Tweed, and Mysore Sandalwood.
SRD's Sandalwood is one of the best glycerin based soaps out there. They use high quality EO's in all their soaps. The EO they used in the Rose Otto was outstanding. I hope they get some of that soon. Anyway, Sandalwood....it does have a very Earthy, Warm, Woodsy scent, unlike any other Sandalwood. It's a great soap, I'm sure you'll like it.
