Hi, I wanted to know if anybody has tried the Edwin Jagger shaving creams, particularly the sandalwood has got my attention. Any comments?
I bought samples of Edwin Jagger's (EJ) Sandalwood, and their Sea Buckthorn. I ended up buying the Buckthorn.
But that's not to say it was bad. Not at all. It lathers well, and provides a pretty decent glide. What killed it "for me" was that the EJ's Sandalwood scent is too mild for me. If you like a mild scented shaving cream, you will not be disappointed!
If you want something with a bit stronger a scent - Taylor of Old Bond St. But I have to admit it was too "woody" for me. I settled on Art of Shavings (AoS) for my Sandalwood needs lol. It's a bit more soapy than some but AoS's scent for me is just awesome.
Good luck! Like I said - it's a EJ's sandalwood is a good product, but the scent isn't as strong as some.
No experience of the creams, but their soaps lathered like crazy. Generally, they have a good reputation on these boards.
I haven't tried their sandalwood but have tried the sea buckthorn...great cream with a very pleasant scent. It was just a sample but it's definately on my list of purchases :) The aftershave balm was nice as well.
Clean, crisp, subdued scents on all three versions. The lather gives good glide but where EJ creams really shine is moisturising. On my dry skin it works wonderfully, hardly any need for balm. Although the EJ balms are as awesome as the shaving creams, very pleasantly waxy/creamy with great moisturising qualities.
The sandalwood is, as said, light but fresh and at least when used in combination with the balm has a surprising longevity to it. I for one love it, although I'm still not sure if I'm getting the sandalwood or the sea buckthorn, which in my opinion has a distinct peach scent to it.
Edwin Jagger shaving software is definately among my favourites.
My experience is the exact opposite. I like the EJ Sandalwood, and totally recommend it, but the scent is a little strong for me. I will say though, it is the current resident in my skuttle, and I will buy it again. edit: I have the soap, if they have a cream, that may be completely different.
