SRD Soap Question

I'm Just about settled on purchasing some SRD Vanilla Bourbon soap, but I had a question to ask before pulling the trigger so to speak.

From what I've gleaned by reading previous posts, the soaps are glycerin based essential oil soaps. Now, I'm still pretty new to wet shaving so I haven't had the chance to test out many soaps/creams; in fact, I've only tried Mama Bear's and Trumpers (cream). Since Mama Bear's soap is glycerin based, can I assume that the SRD soap puck will be similar in consistency to the MBs puck? I understand that the two will lather differently, and I'm not asking about the lathered product - just the raw puck.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I searched SRD soap and didn't find the an answer in the first couple of pages. Any insight and commentary is greatly appreciated!

I am mostly a cream guy APM... but I have been known to own a soap or two. :) Every soap I have ever owned or handled is well - hard. Some are harder than others. For example my Art of Shaving soap is kind oh malleable compared to others.

I think no one has answered because it's extremely hard, well for me at least, to really know what you are asking. A puck is a puck is a puck is a puck... (Sorry Canadian Humor).

Puck sizes though -> they can vary in size and thickness.

Yes, this does help. I had just seen a few posts where people make reference to pucks being more/less malleable than other. As I mentioned above, I haven't really used a large variety of soaps so I am operating in the dark here. I guess I'll just buy more soaps and see for myself!

The SRD soaps that I have are not pucks. The soap is poured into the container and is not removable. Also they don't appear so much opaque. They're are more clear looking, with color, I guess like a gel looks. Hard, but not as hard as pucks and they have a feel of glycerin when you run your finger over the surface. They work very well. You can actually get those SRD soaps out of the container its just a pain and requires a knife.:p Make sure to share how that Vanilla Bourbon smells and performs! I love SRD soap and since using it don't even feel that I need to do any preshave treatment.

Will do! I'm excited to try it out as well... On the one hand the smell of true bourbon vanilla is one of my favorites. On the other, I voiced some interest in the Bulgarian rose Otto soap from SRD so this will be nice as I'll be able to determine the consistency and lather of SRD soaps before that group buy happens.

I have two srd soaps they are great, i think they are kind of simpler to mb soaps. I have smelled the vanilla bourbon and it is awesome, I'm sure it lathers just as well as the ones i have. I say go for it I'm sure you will enjoy it, i like to try as many different soaps and creams as possible

the vanilla bourbon is a very strong smelling soap. i like to put a little bit of hot water on the the soap to soften it.

Good lord, that shit is intoxicating! Can't wait to shave with it!!

I've been perusing through the SRD for a while and this soap caught my eye as a good "winter" soap. Glad it smells good. Can't wait for a recap on the shave.
