Castle Forbes, my sweet, sweet salvation

I'm less than 10 shaves into the art, but I decided to drop some coin on some nice face prep gear and, man, did it pay off. I picked up some Proraso sensitive skin preshave, Castle Forbes Lime Cream and Balm, and some Tabac. I just finished my first shave with them, CF cream for lather, and it was incredible. It was like they added 10 shaves worth of technique to my shave. I still can't stop rubbing my face. So smooth! I'm excited to try the Tabac next. I saw Lynn talk it up something fierce on the DVD.

Although I am now predominantly a soap user, the CF creams(Lavender and the Lime) are 2 of only a few creams I would also consider using. They do carry a slightly higher price tag, however, the concentration of these creams is such that only a light brush tip covering is needed to provide enough lather for 3 passes. Load like a soap rather than scooping a small amount out and the reward awaits.

Your choice of Castle Forbes is commendable. I have used the pre shave, the lavender shave cream and the lavender balm for a number of years — and plan to do so into the next century. Good stuff.

All the products you purchased are worthy to be permanent shave den fixtures. Good stuff, indeed. BTW, I think you'll really enjoy the Tabac with your next shave :)

I just tried the Tabac the other night and WOW, is that some glide. It really helps me remember to use light pressure when the razor just skates across like nothing. Like you guys said, I am definitely keeping these as den fixtures. That being said, I'm having trouble getting the CF to lather up like I know it can. Should I be using a different technique than what I read in the wiki? Also, do you think these two products would play nicely in an über situation?

Edit: disregard what I said about the lathering. I will try using a "soapier" technique next time.

CF, Proraso and TABAC are all fantastic! I use all regularly.

If you don't mind the $, I'd also suggest Martin De Candre for your next "treat"
