Anybody tried this stuff
My mom got me a couple pucks of shaving soap from The Vermont Country Store Apocthecary for christmas and I have been having mixed results with it. I don't have a problem getting a good lather from the other soap I use but this has been hit and miss. I was just wondering if it was just my technique or has anybody else used this.:banghead:

What is the name of the soap?
-
Its just lime musk shaving soap. I think its the only kind they sell. I will have to give them props for their badger brush, I love it.
-
If its the light foot soap they have on there website. I looked into it when I first started wet shaving as I can find it locally and found nothing but bad reviews.

I don't think that's what it is. I saw it in their catalog with the brushes and mugs.

Is your puck a green color

I am almost certain that it is light foots pine soap. They sell it in a two pack so if you have the unused puck the name will be imprinted on the puck.
Once you know that for sure if you want more input I would recommended starting a new thread asking about info on the soap by name.

Its not the Lightfoot pine soap, its the 3 for $10 one. Its not too bad, just having a hard time getting it to lather good.

Did you try it with very little water? If you use even a drop to much water on some soaps, all you get is bubbles. Make sure it's HOT also. And a better or Best quality brush like a Silvertip Badger is a good one to use. Those synthetic bristles and Boar Hair Bristles couldn't whip up a lather anywhere and at any time.

I've been experimenting with it and I'm starting to get a little more lather and less bubbles. I don't want to throw it out since my mom gave it to me, its just taking a little longer to get it to work than the Van Der Hagen I've been using. I don't think its the brush, she also got me a Bass badger brush.
