Another Convert to the Fat!

Well, I finally ordered a puck of MWF in one of those $13 West Coast Shaving deals. I did my homework, following the tips I read on here, and watched on Mantic's video:

-grated/pressed it into my mug
-warm water left to sit on top during shower (about 1 tbsp)
-worked a stiff brush around after shaking it of excess water, turned upside down to get the soap down into the brush (maybe 20 seconds)
-face lathered, dipping the tips in water a few times

Results? The easiest, most luxurious clouds of lather I've ever gotten. It gave great cushion and glide to my trusty Improved Eagle for a relaxing 3-pass Sunday shave. I ended up with one of my smoothest shaves ever, and the lanolin leaves my skin soft and soothed-I can't stop facesturbating!

And to answer another poster's quest for a winter soap, I think I've found mine!

Out of curiosity, did you try it in its original puck form before grating it? I've always had great lather from MWF the way it is without resorting to all these elaborate tricks.

1 caveat I forgot to mention-it doesn't have much scent, and I'm a fan of big scent and/or menthol bombs (Tabac, Godrej Menthol Mist, etc.). I may experiment with menthol crystals or some essential oils in the lather.

No Ryan- I just grated it right off. I wanted to press fit it into my bowl anyway.

Sounds like an amazing soap. I hate to have stuff that I don't use in my bathroom, but I have to try this one before I replace my Proraso. I may trade samples of Osma or blades for soap samples when I qualify to post in the W/S/T section. Sounds like NYC's tap water would cause any issue getting it to lather, but I'm still afraid I'd have an allergic reaction which would make it non usable for me.
I've never had a lanolin soap, and it seems like a killer conditioning product!

Yea, produces a great lather and has little to no scent. Just whetted my puck of MWF and stuck it to the bottom of my container.

I did the same thing. Watched the Mantic video and used MWF for the first time in probably a couple of years. I'd been using a couple of soaps exclusively the past few months but thought I'd try something else today. It was just fine. I know when I had used it previously I had issues with it drying on my face. Guess I've learned to shave faster, lather better, or both.

There are so many great soaps out there, it seems like I'll never run out.

it takes more work than most soaps, but the lather that it makes is very good in my experience.
