This is cool!!

OK, so I was out with my wife today and we stopped by the local Nordstroms here in Indy (GO COLTS!) and I picked up some Truefitt and Hill 1805 and some Almond shave cream. I was so excited I had to experiment :). I open the 1805 and there was a little white covering over the cream. So, I grabbed my badger brush, a shave mug and some really hot water. I soaked the brush for a few and all I did was swipe the little white covering and this was the lather I got with just a very tiny amount from that covering!!! I'm really new and never worked up a lather before so fogive me:bow. I just had to post some pics. As soon as my straight razors get back to me from Lynn and one on it's way from Germany I'll be shaving!!

if your lather is running down your brush when its upside down in that picture...then your lather is much too watery.

you should be able to make it stand out sideways in a point over an inch long and basically wave your hand and the lather won't move. you get what im saying? its like FLUFF, marshmellow style. if its runny or moving on its own, then you have too much water. too much water also yields little bubbles in the lather.

get your brush wet(then give your brush a flick get rid of extra)
put on enough cream or soap (can put cream into bowl)
put like a teaspon of water in your lather bowl
start swirling and pumping... more swirls and pumping
if there isn't enough lather (don't forget its in your brush also) then add a few drops of water and keep swirling/pumping

the less the water you use...the thicker, richer, and more protective your lather will be. remember, its not about quantity of lather, its about quality lather.
