I recently found 2000grit wet/dry sandpaper. My rough hone is about 900g and my whetstone 2sided 3000/10000. I was thinking about putting the paper on the back of my leather strop as a sharpening side. Is this safe or should I use a paddle strop with the paper. Or is paper all together a bad idea?
I don't think paper grit and stone grit are on the same scale. I would use it on glass or something very flat IF that is all I had to use. 1k stone is kind of cheap and a much better way to go.

I agree. I have a synthetic ruby hone that's 10k. A 3k Aggi and a 900grit Arkansas whetstone. I'm just looking to further my options that better fit my uh what's the word technique that's it haha. I dont always enjoy that last shave before the refreshing of the edge. I was thinking of using the paper on that shave. Being into the shave I can't break out the hones. So I wanted to add onto my strop. I was looking and most leave the fluffy side of their leather strops as they are. Even seen one that exclaimed against using a paste or compound. So given that advice I know my options are limited for additions. And that's how I came about the paper. Would it be advisable to scrape and sand the fluff then add an abrasive
It strikes me that shaving off of a 2k edge wouldn't be that nice of an experience, but I have also never tried it. I would have thought a strip of cheap fabric with some sort of paste might be a better option.
I normally just finish the shave then give the razor a refresh on a high grit hone before I use it again, obviously only on the shave where the razor gets a bit uncomfortable, not every shave.
You wouldn't want to do that, first you would not get a particulary comfortable edge from 2K sandpaper, second by putting it on a strop as you say will ruin you edge totally.
For the occasional touch up, get a CrOx pasted strop, it be Balsa, leather or linen/fabric.
A paddle or loom strop is excellent for this use IMO.
I actually got a piece of 16ga sheet metal and cut a paddle today. Leather one side and pasted canvas on reverse
Use a barbers hone. Lather it mid shave 5 laps and your done. Just rinse and dry when done.

2000 grit silicon carbide paper supported on leather works a treat for knives.
For straight razors it is probably not a good idea, as with that 'grit' you are likely to round the edge very quickly :(
