Being a curious type I was wondering how my 2X42" bench belt sander would work on a razor with a 2" leather belt. Or for that matter how a 6" leather disk would work on the vertical disk sander part.
I assume that I'd have to be very careful about getting the blade too hot and about not cutting off my fingers, but other than that...:shrug:
Surely one of you guys has tried this at one time or another. Any hints?

Keep the blade moving across so it doesn't get too hot. I would think you would only use very light pressure. Haven't tried it, just thinking about it.
Never used one, but wouldn't the seam where the 2 ends meet destroy the edge?
Bill Ellis does it on his cd, but only to set the bevel.
If you do it, do it only to hone out chips in the blade. For setting the bevel, you can use a 1k stone, which may take 5min more but it would be a lot safer.
I have experimented with a combo sander I have (a Delta 1x42 belt and 8" disc) - just the belt using some micro finishing belts from Lee Valley (~1200 or 1500 grit I think). I fixed some shallow chipping and also set some bevels. I would strongly advise not to use any lower grit belts.
