Do you know what your opposite hand is doing?

I did something tonight that has me looking forward to my morning shave. I am a right-hand-dominant person with ambidextrous abilities in many areas. Until tonight I have never considered stropping with my left hand. I recently strained my right hand in the thumb area and more or less wear a brace as needed throughout the day. For some reason tonight it was too painful to strop right-handed, so the great experiment in using my left hand. Needless to say, it went very slowly and awkward at the start. I was super hyper-aware of pressure on the strop and went very slowly. I did about 2/3rds fewer laps than usual in fear of cutting the strop or doing something to the edge.

The razor is a fairly new SAS I bought a few years back and one of the first that I honed myself. It took a fine edge and has been giving excellent shaves so I am doubly apprehensive as to the quality of the morning shave and the condition of the edge.

Right handed or left handed, I can slash a strop with either :cry:

Seriously though, I'm some what ambidextrous as well and have stropped left handed without any issues. It was slower and more deliberate, but no problems. Trying to make lather with my left hand, well that got messy real quick.

I may have to start stropping with my left hand more often. I'd swear that the edge was improved in a way that gave me a smoother shave than I normally seem to get. I guess further experimenting is in order.

That's because you were more carefully using your off hand.
