I can remember reading that at the time and feeling a bit queasy, especially about the thigh being the optimum bit of flesh.

I also sometimes strop on my arm by the way.

I've palm stropped before, the finger stropping sounds kind of scary lol!! I always give every razor 10 laps on linen and leather after shaving to dry and clean them

I use my forearm and it really works great. Smoother then hand or fingers and gives you a longer lap.
