I hope I did the right thing. It seems the Latigo and new Horsehide are in better favor around here, but I couldn't pass up the sale price. Now I hope Tony takes pity on me and ships before his vacation.

Don't fret. Tony makes exceptional products, and you really can't go wrong with any of the finishes, they just feel different. Just think, you may need to get one of each. I have a 3inch #2 in Red Latigo and love it. Would I also love either the Honey Brown or Horsehide, most likely - and in time will end up with another strop in one of the other finishes. :tu
i love the honeybrown, smooth as silk...probably my favorite strop to use. works well paired with the red latigo
This will be my only strop unless the practice strop that's coming with it is in Latigo or Horsehide. I currently have an old beater strop I've been using, but it will get PIF'd, loaned, or sold in an inexpensive beginners set I may eventually put together. My "usable" razors are all hollow ground, so it sounds like I'm OK there based on what I've read. How does the Honey Brown do on heavier grinds and/or wedges?
Well I have to say, TONY MILLER IS THE MAN! Not only is he getting my strop out before he leaves for vacation, he made up an improved version for me with double dees at the bottom. I love Double D's ... I mean Dee's :D He's also making sure the practice strop is in Latigo, so I can try out that particular leather. Thanks, Tony!
You already ready see that but Tony is top notch as for your strop they are not better or worse it is all about which one you like that works for you. i have even notice and i am not an expert that it also depends on the blade for me which type works better.
PS Tony if you are listening get the new artisan's listed:y
I actually liked my practise strop better than the #1 3" wide honeybrown heirloom.
The #1 is a very very good strop. But I learned stropping on the practise strop and it grew on me. Plus I kept my #1 stored flat outside the bathroom on a shelf, but I always forgot to take it with me before showering.
And since the practise strop was only a practise strop, I leave it hanging in the bathroom, and I don't mind if my daughter grabs it.
With small kids running around the house, life is much more relaxed if you accept that your house / stuff will not stay mint and don't think twice about it.
So I never really got around to using it much. I sold it to Chief at a discount because it was a shame that such a strop was not regularly used.
If my practise strop ever needs replacing, I think I'd go for a simple #3 red latigo strop instead.
A honey Brown strop from TM is a good choice. It works well for full hollows being quite soft and flexible. All strop types will strop all types of razor, just some seem to do t better than others. Yours will strop wedges and full hollows with no problems. I am sure that you will not be disappointed with your purchase.

Thanks guys for the compliments!
I had a few remaining #1 Bests here in Honey so converted then into a semi-Paragon version with separate linen and leather so they work much better. They are done with Dee's not handles at that discount price though. 2 left I think.
The last few Horsehide Paragons ordered this week shipped as Artisan models with the leather end caps and after vacation I'll list them with photos and my new logo, etc.... I will do a black Latigo version too as that extra thick leather lends itself better to that method of construction than as a Paragon.
Don't know if I'll have e-mail contact while away.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but Tony, is there a kit available to upgrade the #1 horsehide honey brown best to the newer separate handled paragon look?
I would like to separate the linen and the leather if it is at all possible - I think all I would need (since I have the leather screws and grommets) would be a single "D" ring for the separated linen side and the new leather handles?
I was just curious! I really am looking forward to picking up a new latigo, that will be very sweet!
Thanks!
