On vacation? Aack! I just bought my first razor and was hoping to get one of Tony Millers entry-level strops to go with it. Is there an alternate supplier for his strops? Thanks.

EH!!
Why not buy direct from Tony?
PuFF
Presumably because ftsdoc wants his strop to arrive as soon as possible. My advice would be to wait just a little longer. The Well Shaved Gentleman Shop will be accepting orders soon again, it's only closed for a week and a half.
And to answer your question, I'm not aware of anywhere else (except perhaps through another member in the buy/sell/trade section) who sells Tony's strops.
Tony's out of strops and he's going on 'vacation'/business getting more materials. He posted it in the Vendors section.
I don't think anybody else carries Tony's strops. I think your only option is to wait another week or so, unless you go for different strop... Sorry
Shavingshop.com has these. It is John Crowely's site. He used to post a bunch back on the Yahoo site. It looks like he is selling some Heirloom strops. Not the entry level though. MikeB

squarepoint beat me to it. Shavingshop is the only other source that I know of though they only carry one model and you can't customize it at all
i'd wait for Tony to come back if not for anything else than to join the ranks of us that rant and rave over his stuff
Thanks guys. It won't be that long but demand has oustripped supplies and we were headed out on a business trip anyway so felt I should close and restock instead of coming home to a weeks wortth of orders and making everyone wait once again.
So fay we have about 30 Paragons back on the shelf and Artisans in the works now. I woodworker friend is going to crank out paddle blanks for me so all I need to do is add leather and finish them. This should get us back on track quickly. The starter strops will be back in a few remaining honey browm items and a a new heavier weight red Latigo.
John Crowley has been a long time supplier of my #1 Best and now Paragon strops and I think you see another dealer or two with them very soon as well. I'll let them comment when the time is right.
I'll be around via e-mail and maybe phone till Wednesday but in the shop most of the time so it may take a few days to return calls.
Tony
Gee Tony! I'm mad at you!
Every time you seem to post some thing new comes along! A heavier Latigo?? What is a customer suppose to do. You keep hanging a carrot in front of the rabbit.
I haven't placed my order as I cannot decide between Horse/Latigo and the linen options. I'll place my order and then you will come up with another "must have " otion. hmmm. Let me see. Perhaps it will be a Kangaroo/ Porpoise option with gold wording??? Hey how about gold plated tack hardware??!! Can you say your product and advertising is the "crack cocaine/crystal meth of strop collecting/purchasing!?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I must say Tony Your continual inventory updating is a great thing!
I'll be placing an order in the next few days as soon as I can make up my mind.
Could you add a little info regarding the need for a double leather? I know I want one but I do not understand why, if and when to use different leather on a single blade. ??Purpose??? Would you say both are finishing leathers?
What is your new Heirloom logo on the strops going to be?
MikeB
Mike,
The double leather is something done long ago, nothing new really. Many old barber strops had "sharpen" and "finish" sides. usually both cow or horse hide but one was usually pasted with a mild cutting red or black paste and used in place of linen. I'm doing something similar here especially for those who really don't use linen much and can't decide between horse and latigo. The latigo has lots of friction and work well on any razor but especially nice on heavy blades. The horse is smoother, more of a finish leather and feel nice on fine blades, maybe even more than heavier ones.
I may make a run of real "finish"/"sharpen" Originals with .25 or .5 diamond spray on one component for those who feel they have the experience not to round their edges.
The logo simply adds our name on our products, something missing the past few years, along with Latigo or Horsehide to easily identify what they are.
I spend a lot of time cruising eBay looking at strop designs from the past and am always experimenting with older designs.
Tony
Tony,
I'm a newbie but I've learned at least one thing. You da man for strops. When you get back let us know please. I'm in the market for a paddle strop and I'd like your input.
Tony made a 3 inch wide paddle strop for me once. Balsa on the opposing side which I put .5 on. Even let me have it for free. Can you imagine? That bad boy strops a razor to a wicked fine edge. Its magical. Its fool proof too.
A 3 inch wide paddle grabs the entire edge at once.
Alan,
Great...now everyone will want a free strop <g>.
Every once in a while someone will come to me with a great strop idea. If I choose to make it a production item or wish to test a protoype I may just send a freebie example of the new model to the originator. Alan got thr first special style paddle, ilija got the synthetic vegan strop and Josh early got my first integral leather handle model for sending me a nice handle design copied from a vintage strop.
You never know who may be next........
Thanks,
Tony
Perhaps for your next product, you could include a DD Wonderedge (or similar). I will happily test this for you. :w
