Damon's Proforma Strop

Well I've sold many strops to the members here, and I've herd from a few personally, there have been a couple posts on my vendor thread and all so-far have been positive. There are a few I have not herd from yet so I wanted to start an official thread about the strop you have purchased from me. I would like to hear both positive and negative thoughts about them since I am getting ready to invest a little more in the next phase. For now I want to keep them good quality, simple and affordable for anyone.

I bought a strop from Damon. It was a beauty, and worth every penney! I gave it to my son. I believe I'll buy another one when more become available; just cause It's such a good deal; and I think it would look good hanging next to my #1 TM Horsehide.

I got the strop in last week. It looks great. I didn't dress it or do anything to it. I just took it out of the box and started using it... I'm not a pro at stropping at all... I nicked it a little here and there but it didn't affect performance... I'm not sure if the width has anything to do with it but I somehow think the strop isn't flat... Maybe it's me... I would pull on the strop to make it real taught ... When I place the blade on the strop it appears to dip in the middle...

It's wide enough that I don't have to do an X pattern but I guess cause I think it's dipping in the middle I strop with an X pattern... I guess I'll know with time whether the strop is working or not...

Maybe it's cause the grommet is in the middle and when I pull on it too hard the edges curl up ? I'll keep you posted...

I have this problem with some strops. I have ended up putting it down to pulling too hard and warping the leather through its natural grain. When you pull less hard it tends to flatten out.
Have you tried this?

It could be the way it is being held I usually put a slight bend down on the handle about 30-40 degrees.

I'll give the handle bending a try...

Damon, the strop I bought from you is one of my favorite strops. It goes neck and neck with my TM #2. I will be contacting you on payday to purchase another one to replace my old beginner Illinois strop.
