I recently bought a paddle strop from Tony Miller, with 3 sides pasted 3.0, 1.0, .5, and one side with leater for daily stropping. I was wondering if, and when, I move into the honing arena could I have the leather taken off so I could convert my paddle into a four sided pasted strop? If not what type of strop should I buy for .25 diamond paste
I would keep it leather, because sometimes you may want to strop on the paddle instead of your hanging strop for a change of paste.
But if you wanted to paste the fourth side, you might be better off just applying the paste to the leather. A lot of people use hanging leather strops for pasted stropping so it should work on the paddle too (maybe even better). If you tore the leather off I bet the glue residue would make the underlying balsa uneven and hard to use.
But there are many more who know more than me on this.

All four sides of your paddle are leather, just one of them is oil treated for daily use. That side could be pasted if you want but not quite as easily as most pastes are water based which means it may not bond quite as well against the oil finished leather.
It is best not to remove it as the glue is very hard to remove from the wood surface. All of my 4 sides are made from maple, not balsa.
