My strop is stiff and has a slight curl on the edge.
Is there anything I can do to soften it like mink oil without ruining it?
Or is it time to just buy a better made one?

Mink oil would work, but it would probably work better with neatsfoot oil and may take several applications to restore the leather. as for the curl, try the the wine bottle routine.
A nice subtle oak flavored Chardonnay will work best.!
After you get it softened and straightened, you can help keep it that way by rubbing your hand up and down the strop a few times every day. This will work the oils of your hand into the strop and will help to keep it supple.
You are both crazy. A bottle of Thunderbird works just fine, to wit:
1. drink most of the bottle
2. haphazardly dump the rest on your strop
3. pummel the strop with the bottle until you lose interest, then smash it on the wall
4. wake up in the bathtub, take off the gorilla mask, and rub the strop with neatsfoot oil like you should have in the first place
Speaking of oak.
I like an Aussie product called Oakwood Leather conditioner.
It's available in the U.S. Leather conditioners, leather cleaners for furniture, saddles, motorcycle leather
