Thanked: 18pasting question??
I just got a new dovo two sided strop for a x-mas gift. I must say that it is a hell of a lot nicer than the old crappy one i bought online for 20 bucks. The leather is about 1,000 times better quality. The question I have is should i paste the canvas side. I have been using the ti paste on my old leather strop because it was quite useless without it. It put a great mirror finish on the edge of my razors. So should i use it the same way on my new one on the canvas??

Personally I like to leave one strop clean. It is easy to paste it and it is not easy to get it off. I would hang on to the old strop and use it as a pasted strop and leave the new one as is.
EDIT; Here is what Tony Miller said in another thread on the same topic.Last edited by JimmyHAD; 12-26-2008 at 11:36 PM.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I agree with Jimmy, if you decide to paste a strop, paste the crappy one.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 735I'll step in and say paste your canvas, BUT USE THE DOVO WHITE PASTE ON:Y!
Load up your crappy strop with chrome ox, or what have you, but for your everyday use canvas, the white paste is very mellow, and damn effective for giving a very comfortable and sharp edge (the edge has to be there in the first place, it isn't cutting paste like the colored pastes...). I found plain canvas to be niether here nor there, loaded with white paste, however made it a super effective tool!
