At one time Classic Shaving offered linen/canvas strops, but don't anymore. Anyone know where I can get my hands on a good one?

Ace,
Do you want just the linen side of a leather/linen strop like the linen side of an Illinois strop?
Might be able to help there.
Tony
Hey Tony!
Yup! I have a conditioned leather strop from HandAmerican and just need the canvas/linen one. Do you have one for sale?
~Tim
Classic Shaving DOES still sell the leather/linen strops, from DOVO! I just checked......the one I got was $49.99, and came with a wonderfully prepared leather side, with an attached linen strop connected to the back! It is also the best linen strop I have right now......
Sign me .....confused?
(Unless you were looking for ONLY a linen strop ...??)
Yep, that's right Chaaaz! All I'm looking for is the linen strop. At one time CS offered one by itself. I think its logo was of an eagle or hawk with the words "Barber's Best" all in gold print. Don't tell me I'm gonna have to buy a leather/linen strop set just to get the linen one!

Tim,
I have a new linen strop from an Illinois #127. It is 2.5" wide and 23" long including the handles. Brand new, unused. I assume you already have the hardware on the other strop and will add this? if not this does have a hole in the top where it could be hung. I caould set a grommet in it for you.

Not sure, but I believe Tilly has some linen available. You might try contacting her through her website: http://www.redtrader99.com

Booklady has been selling some very nice linen only strops on ebay for the last year or so. Although she is almost out, I think she has a few Merit Silk strops that appear occasionally. Otherwise, you could also buy a used strop on Ebay with a bad piece of leather so the cost was low...and just pitch the leather and save the linen.
I just got a Merit silk strop from Booklady (local to me) this week. Great strop, new old stock too, never used. really has a nice feel and was almost identical in feel to the linen on the back of the Horsehide Illinois I sold last weekend.

Hi Tony,
I also have an older style Horsehide Illinois 361 that comes with a classic linen strop, so very different from the newer type "linen finished" that comes with the newer Cowhide Illinois 361 that I also have. It will be interesting to compare it with the Merit silk strop, which is one fine looking strop.
I also have a linen strop that came with George's strop, so I expect they could also be ordered seperately from him. However, it is a much lighter fabric than the linen available on my older classic strops. Even so, I much prefer real linen to the "linen finished" strops that come with the new Illinois.
