Thanked: 74Seat Belt Strop
One of the guys at work was getting rid of his '85 Chrysler Mini Van. I asked if I could have a seatbelt from it. He gladly obliged and now this is hanging in the bathroom.
I've never used a hanging strop before, so that is taking a little getting used to. Also, I am using it on a freshly honed razor, so everything feels pretty sharp. Maybe next time I shave, I'll use a razor that has a couple of shaves on it, and see if I notice any difference.
Gotta love free stuff.

Thanked: 1Wow, I was only eyeing off the seatbelt in my car a day ago thinking about how the material would go as a pasted strop...
I will be quite interested in how it performs as a "normal" strop also. I have made my own leather strops before and they are what I normally use, but I have been wanting to try refreshing the edge with from CrOx or other pastes.

I am anxious to hear your impressions of how the strop works. I used the same razor and my seat belt strop for about a week and a half then I used a nice vintage leather/linin on the same razor.
After learning to shave with some, less than steller home made razors and various sharpening experiments I belive I could shave off of tin can lid nowdays. I am eager to hear a normal persons results with a seatbelt strop.
