    Thumbs up The Venerated Black

I am a strop man. I have suffered through, and learned to love, the stones. I have a Chinese 12K that has been loving lapped with Norton 2000 until it sticks to the Granite. I love the way it actually sucks the blade into it when honing.

But for me the magic is the pliable medium. The Strop. I am not sure that a lot of novice appreciate that progressing to Dovo black paste on a leather strop is a refining step. You are now polishing on on a 14K grit surface!

After 15 years of exemplary service, I am retiring my Illinois 127. The Black in my progression. Now a lot of folks don't know it, but the Black strop is your baby....Strop Men understand!

Anyway....Lynn you have done it again! Your Black Latigo is a beauty. I did a quick wipe with acetone to remove just a blush of wax, and replaced it with Dovo black. Everything I wished for!

    Proud to hang it!
