At Classic shaving I found these words "A canvas strop needs a daily hand finish to keep it in good condition." What has been your experience? Does anyone use a bar of soap to go over the linen before the hand finish? If so what is the advantage?

I don't, except to clean it.
I usually rub my palm on the leather around 100 times on a daily basis and it really helps the leather remain supple. I have never done anything with a linen strop other than put TI paste on it. When they get dirty, I use dish soap and a brush and clean them. Then I let them dry flat and use them without any treatment until dirty again. Lynn
