Gentlemen,
I was in need of a strop for travel. Many of you made good suggestions, for which I am grateful. One of you gentlemen provided a link to the Well Shaved Gentleman, home of the Heirloom Razor Strop Company. Thank you.
When I saw the 2-inch Artisan Companion Strop on the site, I fell in love with it. The photo of it is on the site. I decided to telephone the owner, Tony Miller, to find out more about the strop and my particular need. I had heard Mr. Miller's name mentioned here with the highest respect. After my conversation with him, I know why.
I found him warm, informative and genuine. I had felt the same about Lynn Abrams when I first spoke with him on the telephone. Mr. Abrams and Mr. Miller are true gentlemen and I am grateful to know them.
My conversation with Tony Miller covered a number of other topics. In the end we both decided the 2-inch Artisan Companion Strop would serve me well. I ordered it. My choice was the horsehide and genuine linen combination sides. Also, I chose the thong & bead instead of the metal hook for hanging.
My strop arrived in less than a week. Gentlemen, it is exactly as Mr. Miller described it, and as it appears on the site. I have used it several times and am delighted with it. I have a gig coming up in California this coming weekend and my new strop will be packed neatly into my small suite case, along with a full shaving kit.
This will be my first trip anywhere with a straight razor and a strop. Ordinarily I take the Feather AC. Let's hope I have enough time to use my straight and new strop. Just in case I run short on time, and there is a good likelihood for that, the double edge razor goes along, too.
So thank you, Tony Miller, for being such a gentleman.
Regards,
Obie
