I found the following bench strop available with an option to order with the either the smooth or rough side of the leather upwards:

What do you recommend for Chromium Oxide, smooth or rough? I've emailed the seller this question but I'm concerned he might not be knowledgable concerning straight razors.

Which side to paste with the CrOx? I would say the rough side, but that's just my personal preference.

I had him paste the Leather's rough side with Cr Oxide, you will not be sorry as it works great!

I ended up ordering the longer-leather (11 inch) 2-sided bench strop with smooth on one side and rough on the other. He recommended the rough side for the chromium oxide. This should work great for travel as I can bypass packing a regular strop. The seller recommended heating up the leather and the bar chromium oxide (included witht the purchase) with either a heat gun or a hairdriver before application and then rubbing in with the heal of the hand.
