Help for used Strop
I have a used strop that I started with that I would like to restore. It has a few nicks down each side from not being careful adn I was wonderign how to remove them and make the strop usable again. The middle of the strop is fine, but the ends are bad. I also want to knwo the best type of oil to put on it to soften it up again because it feels very stiff and not like it did new.
I have bought the new 3" bridal strop from SRD, but I would like to fix up the old one for use, or to give to a newbie or use for various pastes.
Thanks Guys,

Trey,
My poor old first strop wanted to take legal action against me for Grevious Bodily Harm :)
I found that sanding the cuts with 600 grit carbide paper worked really well; you have to sand a bit either side of the cut, so it forms a shallow, smooth depression. Application of neatsfoot oil afterwards completed the job.
The strop is still going strong :)
best regards
