Strop-Stone ???

While reading about str8 shaving in the old days, I came across what is referred to a "Strop-Stone".

This was a stone used to dress a strop, canvas as well as leather.

I checked the WIKI but couldn't find any reference for a Strop-Stone.

There is an example of an advertisement for one of these stones in "THE STANDARD GUIDE TO RAZORS, third edition.

Does anyone actually have one of these strop-stones? How about a photo?

Probably speaking of a fine grained Pumice stone there are numerous threads if you can find them.

Yep, that's what I use. You can also use very fine sandpaper. I wouldn't say it's for strop dressing though. More for strop repair.

The word "dressing" has two meanings in this instance.
The noun is an oil/conditioner to keep your strop supple, whereas the verb means to "lap" or "bring back to true" a sharpening tool/grinder/etc.
ie After applying some dressing to my strop I then completed my maintenance by dressing my grinding wheels.
So to answer your original question, as others have stated, it's probably in reference to a pumice stone, to dress (lap/flatten) your strop.
