I was wondering if sound has anything to do with my stropping. I notice that if there is a slight sing on each draw. Is this good? If I don't hear it, I suspect that it's not completely flat.
Thanks for any input.

Sound may be an indicator of the effects of stropping, depending on the blades design. I would rather concentrate on what I see when I strop. Is the blade laid flat, how is my x pattern and by all means make sure the spine is leading the stroke.
Usually sound while stropping is dependent upon certain strops and certain razors so you have to know your individual razors and strops. I wouldn't use it as a guide unless you know with a certainty a particular razor makes a particular report when stropping and does it all the time and the degree of keenness makes the report change.
My near wedge and 1/4 hollow make very little sound on the linen or the strop - pretty much zilch. My 1/1 hollow, on the other hand, likes to make itself known - it constantly sings. Sight and feel are better indicators than sound.
