Yea. I think I have a physical disability that will prevent me from being a honemeister. I have no way to know if the edge I put on a blade will actually shave another face comfortably. For S&G's I just did a blade and water shave. One splash of hot water and a drop of conditioner for prep. It didn't smell as good as when I use soap. It was however fine, and I learned a bit more about my facial hair doing it. That odd spot just under the chin, responds the same to XTG as ATG for virtually any ATG angle. Plus it looks cool to just see your facial hair pile up on the edge of the straight.
to the OP, you will be glad you did! take your time and work on one skill at a time. Just like the new shaver guide says, take your time and gain your proficiency in steps. It makes it easier on both you and anyone trying to help you when you have troubles.
