Often what happens is that after a razor has been screwed it sits in a drawer for sometimes generations before finally giving birth to a lovely new blade at the hands of our resident midwives (aka restorers).
Sexing razors is a tricky thing actually. Bit like chickens. Even if you do sex them correctly and try to breed them, they are worse than Pandas. I've even tried showing mine razor pron to no avail...

I bought a leather razor case off eBay last year and the seller included a straight razor "for free" with the deal.
Obviously this razor sat in a dark drawer for decades, "resting." And you're right. The edge did grow. . . .
It grew cellrot. :w

It's only our Egos that make us think that carbon based organisms are the only ones able to regenerate. The truth now gentlemen : 'you've never stropped a razor and thought: ' gee. screwed up on something' only to put it away and in the morning picked it up and said:' gee not bad after all!!' what do you think happened? The Razor Fairy came in the middle of the nite!! No! Regeneration!(:-)
Sounds like you just thought you screwed up. Steel is carbon based btw, otherwise you would be shaving with an iron blade.
