Where's the handle?
I'm considering getting one of Tony Miller's strops this month, and I'm trying to decide which one I want.
Some of his less-expensive strops don't have a D-ring or a sewn-on handle. So how do you hold the thing? I know there are disadvantages to a sewn-on handle, but I'm curious how you can get the strop tight without something to pull.
Thanks,
Josh

You pull on the end, same way you do if you're stropping on your belt. You don't really need a handle.

I put a 1" brass hook into the underside of my bathroom countertop. My countertop does NOT go wall-to-wall, so I was able to put the hook 'around the corner' on the side. The strop hangs from the hook and I hold the other end up to use it.
Also, even though my strop had a brass ring, I hold the leather itself above the ring. This prevents the strop from twisting in use.
I actually put in two hooks and I hang my paddle strop out of the way on this second hook.

I'll agree and say that IME the handle is quite unnecessary.

Thanks, everybody. I wound up getting Tony's #2 Heirloom model. I can't wait to try it out...
