Well, you're going to, regardless, here's a quote:
on one end a large shining map, marked with all the colors of a rainbow.
There was a vast amount of red--good to see at any time, because one
knows that some real work is done in there, a deuce of a lot of blue, a
little green, smears of orange, and, on the East Coast, a purple patch,
to show where the jolly pioneers of progress drink the jolly lager-beer.
However, I wasn't going into any of these. I was going into the yellow.
Dead in the center. And the river was there--fascinating--deadly--like a snake.
The movie Apocalypse Now was based on this book...Great book. It says a lot.
...In fact, you only 'get' Apocalypse Now once you read this book. I thought Apocalypse Now was about the army and helicopters. It's about colonialism. It's about racism. It's about fear of the unknown. It's also about a man carrying out orders. It is a great book. One should get it. I have it on audio. I listen to it a LOT.
So, about the trouble-keeping-the-razor-open-while-stropping scenario...
Roy got my razor. He said that the pins weren't really loose, but he will give them a couple taps anyway. Also, he is going to hone it up for me because I think I rolled the edge while stropping...:(
Parker --
That's good news! When do you think you'll be able to bleed again? J/K buddy!
Have you cut yourself yet?
mla
I can't say I have. I have a few.... Lets call them deep scratches that took out about half a layer of skin but didn't draw any blood so they don't count!!!!!
I think I'm getting my razor back next Wednesday ish. Even though I need to shave, I will NOT use a 3 bladed monster!!!
Parker, it's OK to admit you're addicted to cutthroat shaving. After all, you are a "legendary" Senior Member now!
I imagine you've had a few scrapes from gymnastics -- a little crease from a razor should be no big deal to you.
Haha yeah just a few! Gotta hate it when your finger is going 90 degrees in the wrong direction!!! That one hurt!
Yeah, that does suck. Even worse when you're knuckles are broken to begin with.
I've probably stropped a few hundred razor and some are just hard to keep under control tight pins or not. If the tang doesn't rotate easy, it makes it go out of control, my Swedish framebacks are like that due to really thin tangs
Not a bit! Luckily I had some pretty flexible shoulders, but still the sheer speed of the movement made it very painful. Also, I don't think there was a day I went home without sand dollar sized bruises on my shins from the Pommel Horse. But, getting off topic again....
I dated a gymnast in college -- her legs and arms always had more bruises than I did! She couldn't wear a sleeveless dress when we went out to dinner because people might think I beat on her. Don't tell me you miss the pain.
I totally believe that! I definitely don't miss the pain, I do miss the thrill of learning a new skill of being 20 feet in the air swinging as fast as I can!
You're a crazy kid, Parker! My response would be something like "You want ME to go up THERE?!?" I'm not afraid of heights -- I grew up on a mountain -- but I am afraid of deceleration trauma!!
At first it is terrifying. I will be the first to admit it! I would fake being sick to get out of it when I was young. Then something clicked, and I loved the daredevil aspect of it. But I was careful, and never got any SERIOUS injuries.
